Here are the top performers of the week, along with a couple other tidbits:
Quarterbacks:
- Jase Ferguson, Central Clarion, became the third District 9 quarterback ever to throw 100 or more career touchdown passes when he threw for 5 TDs and 251 yards against St. Marys. He also rushed for 108 yards.
- Braylon Wagner, Redbank Valley, tossed another trio of TD passes this week and 222 yards. He also ran for another score.
- Trey Wingard, DuBois, pitched the pigskin for 292 yards and 3 TDs.
- Talan Reese, Bradford threw 3 TD passes and ran for another.
- Shane Magee, Otto-Eldred, threw for 3 scores for the 2nd week in a row.
- John Wright, Coudersport, passed for over 200 yards and 4 touchdowns.
- Aiden Patton, Brockway, tossed 3 touchdown passes while throwing for 383 yards.
- Dom Corcetti, Keystone, passed for 2 touchdowns and rushed for another.
Receivers:
- Aiden Snowberger, Brockway, came down with 139 yards and 2 touchdowns with his 2 grabs against Redbank.
- Manning Splain, Otto-Eldred, had 111 yards in receptions and 2 touchdowns.
- Eli Nellis, Keystone, caught 2 touchdown passes once again.
- Mason Burford, Central Clarion, had 108 yards receiving.
Running Backs:
- Owen Higenbotham, Karns City, ran the ball only 10 times but those rushes amounted to 181 yards and 2 touchdowns.
- Brady Collins, Clearfield, rushed for over 200 yards for the second consecutive week. He had 213 yards and crossed the goal line twice.
- Aiden Bliss, Port Allegheny, ran for 4 TDs.
- Malakai Zucal, Cameron County, had 211 yards rushing and scored 4 times.
Defense and Special Teams:
- Nathan Kougher, DuBois, had a 55-yard interception return for a TD.
- Aiden Bliss, Port Allegany, had a 35-yard pick six.
- A teammate of Bliss, Liam Hawver, returned an interception 23 yards for a touchdown.
- Owen Bish, Union-AC Valley, returned a fumble 74 yards for a score.
- Kolton Griffin, Brookville, scooped a fumble up and rambled 51 yards to the house.
- Redbank Valley’s defense sacked Brockway’s QB 8 times, forced a fumble, and intercepted 3 passes.
- Carson Gould, Redbank Valley, had 2 of those interceptions.
Game of the Week:
The Union-AC Valley Falcon Knights defeated the Ridgway Elkers in dramatic fashion this past Friday. Union-AC Valley’s defense saved the game when they made three stands in the 4th quarter to preserve the win. The Falcon Knights had half the offensive yards that Ridgway did, and only had the ball for about 15 minutes for the whole game. A 74-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Owen Bish right after Union-AC Valley’s offense scored when Aidan Fox caught a TD pass was all the scoring the UACV needed. Fox was another integral part of that Union-AC Valley ‘D’ as he had 2 picks including one in the end zone late in the game.
Other Notes:
- Central Clarion, Clearfield, Karns City, Otto-Eldred, Port Allegany, and Redbank Valley are the only unbeaten teams left in District 9 after only two weeks of play.
- Karns City, for the second week in a row rushed for over 400 yards as a team.
- For those interested the other two quarterbacks with over 100 TD passes are Matt Bodamer of Port Allegany (137) and Jack Krug of Brookville (108).
Upcoming Games of the Week:
- Redbank Valley (2-0) @ Port Allegany (2-0)
These two teams have accounted for the past four D-9 Class 1A championships. {@Protime_PFN will be live at Port covering for PFN}
