Here are the top performers of the week, along with a couple other tidbits:
Quarterbacks:
- Jase Ferguson, Central Clarion, was 35 of 41 passing for a career best 532 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also had 2 more TDs rushing the ball. Jase became the third quarterback in D9 history to surpass 9,000 career passing yards, joining Matt Bodamer (Port Allegany) and Derek Buganza (Brockway). He also is now within 3 touchdown passes of breaking Bodamer’s D9 career total of 137.
- Trey Wingard, DuBois, threw for 300 yards.
- Aiden Patton, Brockway, tossed 3 TD passes and almost 300 yards.
- Owen Bish, Union-AC Valley, accounted for 3 TDs, 2 rushing and 1 passing.
- Ryder Brown, Cameron County was 9 of 11 passing for 239 yards.
- Zaden Gould, Punxsutawney, passed for 199 yards and 4 scores.
- Talan Reese, Bradford threw for over 200 yards.
Running Backs:
- Brady Collins, Clearfield, is having a ball this year. All he did the other night was race around the football field for 283 yards, scoring all 5 of his team’s touchdowns. He passed Dave Richards’ career rushing record. Brady is now top Bison with 4,693 yards.
- Danny Dixon, DuBois, rushed for 205 yards.
- Jonah Ganoe, Smethport, ran for 159 yards.
- Braden Slater, Karns City, accounted for 4 touchdowns 3 on the ground and 1 pass reception.
- Nate Steger, Ridgway, scored 3 TDs, 2 via the ground and a pass reception.
- Kamden Fragale, Cameron County, ran for 173 yards.
- Tristan Kiser, Port Allegany, garnered 3 TDs, 2 rushing and the other was a pass reception.
Receivers/Athletes:
- Ethan Rex, Central Clarion, caught 18 passes for 203 yards.
- Mason Burford, Central Clarion, had 131 pass receiving yards.
- Sylus Peterson, Cameron County, only caught 3 balls, but they totaled 127 yards.
- Blake Pisarcik, Brockway, as stated last week, now splits time as a wide receiver and as a running back. Against DuBois he had 115 receiving yards.
- Nathan Kougher, DuBois, grabbed a dozen passes for 128 yards.
- Brysen Delaney, DuBois, hauled down 11 passes for a good night’s work.

Where Some D9 Receivers Rank in Pennsylvania:
- Nathan Kougher, DuBois is 8th with 883 yards.
- Blake Pisarcik, Brockway is 17th with 786 yards.
- Logan Kohler, Bradford is in the top forty with 691 yards.
- Mason Burford, Central Clarion is in the top fifty with 663 yards and has played in only 7 games.
- Jaxon Huffman, Redbank Valley is in the top fifty with 637 yards.
- Kougher, Pisarcik, Burford, and Ethan Rex of Central Clarion are all tied at 10th in the state, with a few others, with 11 touchdown grabs.
Defense and Special Teams:
- Owen Roken, Punxsutawney, broke the single season kick points record with 40. Owen is only a freshman, so look for more records to be broke down the road.
- Alex Marfink, Sheffield, had 18 tackles.
- Darrelle Barno, Sheffield, returned a punt 51 yards to the house.
- Enzo Aiello, Bradford, had a 58-yard pick six.
- Sean Ward, Bradford, had a 22-yard pick six.
- Central Clarion got their fourth straight shutout and fifth overall this season by limiting Redbank Valley’s offensive firepower to 65 total yards.
Interesting Tidbits:
- Last week may have been Sheffield’s last football game ever. They went out in style by winning their last two games. It is the Wolverines’ first 2-game win streak since 2016.
- Karns City, as a team, ran for over 400 yards. Two other games this year they ran for over 500 yards.
- In addition to scoring 4 touchdowns, Karns City Gremlin Braden Slater kicked 6 extra points and a field goal. Not many players can say they scored three different point values in a football game. The only thing missing was Braden collecting a safety for the team.
Game of the Week: Ridgway upset St. Marys 28-19. (Go figure after DuBois beat Ridgway 62-18, St. Marys then beat DuBois 27-14 by playing a great game, and now to complete the round robin Ridgway comes up with the hard-earned victory over their neighbors.) The Elkers took a 14-6 lead late in the first half only to have St. Marys perform the two-minute drill to perfection and cut the lead to two points at the intermission. About half into the third Ridgway scored to go up by nine 21-12, but the Flying Dutchmen countered quickly and cut their disadvantage down to 21-19. What happens next is incredible. Ridgway goes on a 20-play 13-minute drive to score late in the fourth and ice the game.
