Let’s Get To Know Ty

Why do you play football?

I’ve been playing football for as long as I can remember, it’s always been something I have done because of how enjoyable it is, and I just happen to be good at it.

What is your favorite part about football?

There’s so many individual parts to football that make it the best, but I’m a competitor and there’s nothing like competing on a football field, especially playing both sides.

What is your favorite play to run?

Honestly anything deep, I like to air it out and I like scoring td’s. If I had to choose, probably a post, something skinny where I can get downhill.

What is your favorite football memory?

There’s a lot of good ones, but I’d have to say my sophomore year when we played McDowell in states. It was a home game at memorial, it was a snow game, and it went into triple overtime and we ended up winning. One of the best games I’ve ever played in, then we got to go smack North Allegheny the next week.

What was last year’s season like for you?

Although it had a disappointing end, it was overall a great season. I broke some records, played a lot of great football, and had a good time doing it.

Who is the best player you have ever competed against?

It’s tough to say, I’ve played against a lot of great players. One that definitely stands out though is Eli Heidenreich, he played for Mt. Lebanon when we played them in state semis, to be honest he absolutely torched us, very very good player.

What are your goals for this upcoming season?

Biggest goal is to go far in playoffs. I want to double the amount of recieving yards I currently have. And I want to go undefeated in the regular season.

What’s your favorite pre-game meal?

Ima have to skip this one haha, they’re not very good.

Is there a professional player you model your game after? If yes, who?

I wouldn’t say I model my game after anybody specific, I watch a lot of different guys and take different things from their games. But a guy I feel similar to is Ryan Switzer, played at UNC, little player comp.

What is your favorite professional sports team?

I’m a big birds fan, gotta be the Eagles. My dad worked for them for a short time, and I’ve been a fan my whole life.

What is your favorite field to play at?

Gotta be memorial field, my home stadium. There’s nothing like it, it’s in the ground, downtown state college, true stadium feeling.

What is your favorite all-time game you’ve played in?

Same as my favorite football memory. That 3 OT McDowell snow game.

Who has been the most influential person on your athletic career?

My father. I am extremely blessed and lucky that he has been with me through each step of my career. Whether it’s putting in the work, getting me healthy, or giving me advice to better myself, he is a true influence.

What is another sport you wish you could play, but can’t?

Golf. Golf has become my biggest hobby and something I’ve really been enjoying recently. However I’m not very good, but I’m trying to get better.

What is your most embarrassing sports moment?

Honestly I can’t really think of an embarrassing moment. I’m not saying there hasn’t been, because it happens to everybody, but I just can’t think of one. If anything, it’s probably missing free throws in front of a home crowd late in the game.

What would you like to do after high school?

I want to go to college and play football. Somewhere that is going to set me up for a great future, while at the same time fulfilling my competitive needs on the field, I’ve always wanted to compete at the highest level, while also preparing me for the future after sports.
