6A
McDowell Trojans
Head Coach – Aaron Slocum
Key Starters Returning
Rocco Perseo (OL), Rowan Szuba (OL), Jordan Brown (DL), Amir Jones (LB)
Outlook – McDowell will look for their eighth straight District 10 crown in 2025. The Trojans will need to replace a significant amount of skill position talent to do so, starting with the school’s all-time leading passer, Blayze Myers, who passed for 2,301 yards and 21 touchdowns, while rushing for 398 yards and six scores. Stephon Porter rushed for 1,303 yards and 11 touchdowns, along with leading receivers Jame Zigler Jr. and Gavin Magorien, who will need to be replaced. McDowell’s line play appears to be a strength, returning starters Rocco Perseo, Rowan Szuba, and Jordan Brown.
Erie Royals
Head Coach – Andre Henderson
Key Starters Returning
Nijon Young (DL), Natavion Tenon (DL), Paul Johnson (QB), Shaiede Smith (RB)
Outlook – Erie will look again to contend for the District 10 6A title. Though the final is set by default with the district having only two 6A schools, the Royals drastically narrowed the gap from a 58-30 defeat in 2023 to 28-14 a year ago. Erie is also seeking their first winning season since 2017.
5A
Cathedral Prep Ramblers
Head Coach – Mike Mischler
Key Returning Starters
DaZarie Carson, Max Spaulding, Jack Adams, Dom Panighetti, Mike Pokabla, Max Spence, Davin Friedman, Matthew Oblich
Outlook – Mike Mischler returns as head coach for the first time since 2021. Mischler has won five state titles at Prep. The Ramblers will look to bounce back after a disappointing end to 2024 that saw the Cathedral Prep drop four of their final six games, including a stunning 45-42 loss to Dubois in the postseason. Davin Friedman and DaZarie Carson return to lead the Ramblers’ offense.
4A
General McLane Lancers
Head Coach – Marshall McCormick
Key Starters Returning
Caiden Holler, Jared Corwin, Matt Caro, Logan Squires, Jackson Kiser, Corey Weber, PJ Mitchell, Cohen Beachly
Outlook – General McLane won their first District 10 title since 2006 last season. To repeat, the Lancers will need to replace the Zietz twins, Isaac and Jacob. Both hold several school records at quarterback and receiver, respectively. Matt Caro will step in as a quarterback. Caro has seen action under center. In his career thus far, he’s completed 44 of 77 passes for 559 yards and seven touchdowns. Jared Corwin also returns, and he currently holds offers from Towson and Mercyhurst.
Meadville Bulldogs
Head Coach – Ray Collins
Key Starters Returning
Jordan Lawrence, Jacoby Thompson, Landon Plyler, Tymir Phillips, Ryan Fabian, Lucas Conley, Zach Carr, Landon Carter
Outlook – After a 1-year hiatus, Meadville will look to win another district crown in 2025. The Bulldogs return nearly 2000 yards rushing combined from Jordan Lawrence and Jacoby Thompson. Lawrence also led Meadville with four sacks. Thompson, along with A.J. Feleppa, passed for over 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns. Meadville also returns a soild offensive line to help pave the way.
Franklin Knights
Head Coach – Matt Turk
Key Starters Returning
Caiden Mincer
Outlook – Franklin aims to improve from their 2-8 record in 2024. Returning to lead the offense is tailback Caiden Mincer. The Knights will need to replace quarterbacks Landon Lynch and Jason Carey, along with All-Region two-way lineman Jeremy Cunningham.
Warren Dragons
Head Coach – Chris Korbar
Key Starters Returning
Outlook – Warren enters 2025 looking to end their 22-game losing streak that dates back to 2022. The Dragons have been winless since a 42-17 victory over Titusville on October 14th, 2022. Warren has some talented young pieces to work around, including Ayden Corbett, Charlie Blum, Greyson Linkerhof, Noah Bleech, and Payton Hammerbeck. All five players earned second-team Region 6 last season. They’ll be under the direction of first-year head coach Chris Korbar.
