Farrell rolled to their 5th consecutive District 10 AA crown with a 52-0 rout of Mercyhurst Prep Saturday night at Titusville’s Carter Field.
The Steelers averaged over 16 yards per carry, and only a pair of lost fumbles prevented the game from getting out of hand early. A safety, 1:26 into the contest, was the only point of the opening quarter.
Juelz Johnson then scored on touchdown runs of 24 and 21 yards in the second quarter as Farrell took a 16-0 lead into the locker room.
On the initial snap of the second half, Johnson raced 55 yards and scored on a 2-yard run on the next play, shortly followed by a 68-yard interception return for a touchdown by Nemo Jones.
Late in the third quarter, Juelz Johnson scored on a 54-yard run, which gave him 70 career touchdowns, passing Anthony Stallworth and leaving him only five behind Jourdan Townsend on Farrell’s career touchdown list.
With the mercy clock running, Aaron Pegues scored on a 3-yard run early in the fourth quarter. Pegues also had another big game for the Steelers, going nearly perfect through the air, completing 10 of 11 passes for 126 yards, while adding 64 rushing yards.
