Game of the Week: There were a couple dandies this week.  The first one found Karns City slipping by Westinghouse 28-24.  Westinghouse had been undefeated and ranked in the top 5 in Class 1A.  The Gremlins took a 14-0 lead into the intermission, but the Bulldogs of Westinghouse did not lay down.  They scored twice in the third quarter, but to Karns City’s credit, they answered both times and led 28-16 heading to the fourth quarter.  A Westinghouse TD at the beginning of the last quarter put the game within reach.  Both defenses then clamped down and played well.  Karns City’s defense made a play when they had to sacking the House QB on 4th down at the Gremlin 23 in the waning seconds to preserve the victory.

Clearfield was involved in the other game of the week.  It is the 4th time they’ve played a nail-biter this year.  This time the Bison scored with under 5 minutes to play to take a 12-6 lead.  Then they intercepted a pass deep in their territory with a minute to go to hold on and win.

Upcoming Game of the Week:

  • Brockway 5-2 @ Karns City 5-2
