Here are the top performers of the week, along with a couple other tidbits:
Quarterbacks:
- Trey Wingard, DuBois, passed for 251 yards and 4 touchdowns.
- Weston Cook, Moniteau, had 3 TD tosses.
- Cole Johnston, Karns City, had 245 all-purpose yards, passing for 3 touchdowns and running for 2 more.
- Malakai Zucal, Cameron County, ran for 2 TDs and passed for a third.
- Dom Corcetti, Keystone, accounted for 3 scores, 2 by running, 1 via the pass.
- Carter Hindman, Central Clarion, threw for 4 TDs and rushed for a touchdown too.
- Brennan Fillhart, Port Allegany, passed the pigskin for 3 touchdowns.
- Aiden Patton, Brockway, threw 3 TD passes in his game.
Running Backs:
- Aiden Bliss, Port Allegany, ran for 206 yards and 4 touchdowns.
- Markus Gerg, Ridgway, ran for 143 yards.
- Colton Ryan, Clearfield, galloped for 158 yards, scoring 4 times.
- Logan Skibinski, Union/AC Valley, journeyed the football field for 164 yards and 4 touchdowns in the process.
- Evan Anderson, Kane, racked up 202 yards on the ground, scoring twice.
- Jordan Rutan, Punxsutawney, rushed for another 3 TDs this week.
Receivers:
- Jaxson Hanzely, DuBois, grabbed 8 balls for 157 yards and 3 touchdowns.
- Logan Moore, Punxsutawney, latched onto 8 aerials for 102 yards and a couple scores.
- Mason Burford, Central Clarion, had 105 receiving yards and 2 TDs.
Defense and Special Teams:
- Ethan Rex, Central Clarion, returned a kickoff 65 yards for a TD.
- Logan Moore, Punxsutawney, had a 57-yard punt return score.
- Isaiah Smith, Kane, picked up a blocked punt and took it 9 yards to the house.
- CJ Emrick, Karns City, scored a TD by rambling 10 yards with a fumble.
- Maddox Barnes, DuBois, went 7 for 7 in the PAT department and nailed a 36-yard field goal.
- The Central Clarion defense held Bradford to a paltry 60 yards.
- DuBois’ defense forced Brookville to turn the ball over 6 times.
- Punxsy’s ‘D’ held St. Marys to 96 total offensive yards and forced 4 turnovers.
Other Tidbits:
- Union/A-C Valley is now 8-0 for the first time in the 10-year history of Falcon Knight football. They play state ranked and unbeaten Port Allegany this week.
- Port Allegany’s all-state running back, Aiden Bliss, has 6,513 career yards rushing and only trails D-9’s all-time leader, Nick Stewart of Curwensville, who has 7,324 yards.
- Bliss now has 101 career rushing touchdowns.
- DuBois QB, Trey Wingard will break the school career TD pass record of 87 with his touchdown toss. He is tied with Gabe French.
- DuBois WR, Jaxson Hanzely, now holds the school record for single season receiving TDs with 20.
- DuBois PK, Maddox Barnes is perfect so far this year. He has made all 48 of his PATs and has booted 3 FGs in his 3 tries.
Game of the Week: Found Ridgway beating Keystone 33-27. The whole game, especially the second half, was a back and forth affair with neither team ever going up by more than one score. The Elkers held a slim 8-7 margin at the half. Then the fun began. The leads in the third quarter were as follows: 15-8 and 15-14 Keystone, 17-14 Ridgway, and 21-17 Keystone. The fourth quarter saw Ridgway retake the lead at 25-21 before Keystone’s Panthers grabbed the 27-25 advantage. Finally Ridgway scored with under 5 minutes left to go ahead 33-27 and then they stopped Keystone’s drive to ran out the balance of the time remaining.
