Coach says, “Alex was a starter at guard on the offensive line this past year, while rotating in as interior defensive lineman as well. He is a physical player in the run game and we expect him to have a strong leadership role while having a great senior season.”

Let’s get to know Alex:

Why do you play football?

I love the physical part of it. I like the feeling of winning a rep, driving a guy off the ball, and knowing I helped the team move forward.

Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?

Tristan Wirfs. He’s super athletic, strong, and technical. I respect how he dominates in pass pro and the run game. I try to play with that same balance of power and control.

What was last year’s season like for you?

Last season was good. I developed a lot throughout the year—better footwork, more confidence, and I started to really understand the game more.

What are your goals for this coming season?

My goals are to win districts and get better week by week.

Who is the best player you ever lined up against?

The best player I’ve ever been lined up against was probably Robert Edwards or Braheem Battles.

Describe what the perfect teammate is:

Someone who works hard, keeps a good attitude, and does whatever the team needs—no complaints, just effort.

Tell everyone why you think football is good for a community

It brings the whole town together. Playing under the lights on Friday nights means something in Whitehall. You feel the support every game.

Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?

Score a touchdown

Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? Why?

My offensive line coach. He’s helped me improve every part of my game and always pushes me to do more.

What is your favorite practice drill?

Open pull and trap drills—I like flying into space and hitting someone clean

What is your least favorite practice drill?

Gassers

When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?

I ride ATVs and hang out with friends and family.

What is your favorite meal?

Fried plantains and fried fish.

What is special about your football program?

We’re a small program with big goals, and we believe hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard. When everyone is running to the ball, finishing their blocks, and executing their assignments, that’s how we win games. We work together, push each other, and prove that heart and effort make the difference.
