A total of 16 players from the WPIAL were nominated to the PFN Coaches-Select Class 4A All-State football team.

Nine of these players were nominated to the 1st team, including Aliquippa running back Tiqwai “Tikey” Hayes, who was also nominated as 4A player of the year. Hayes, a Penn State football commit, finished the 2023 season with 2,168 rushing yards and 26 rushing touchdowns.

Hayes is joined by four Aliquippa teammates on the 1st team, as well as two on the 2nd team. The other 1st team Quips representatives include Jayace Williams, Cam Lindsey, Brandon Banks, and Arison Walker. Jayace Williams, a 6’2, 235 lb senior defensive tackle has been praised by fellow teammates and coaches as the most underrated prospect in the western part of the state. Senior linebacker Cam Lindsey is committed to University of Pittsburgh and is now a 3-time 1st team all state selection. Senior cornerback Brandon Banks only allowed 4 catches all season, and is a Yale Football commit. Arison Walker, a junior safety, finished his season with 8 interceptions. Making the second team for Aliquippa were 6’0, 240 lb center Braylon Wilcox and defensive end Mekhi Green, who scored on a fumble return earlier this season.

The McKeesport Tigers had three 1st team nominees and one 2nd team nominee. Making up the first team were 6’1, 260 lb offensive tackle Jaydan Daniels-Keys, 6’2, 255 lb center Brady Boyle, and defensive end Courtney Dunn, who was the 2023 Bill Fralic award winner, with defensive end, California University of Pennsylvania commit Keith Spell being nominated for the second team.

Central Valley was the only other school with multiple players selected, as they had a nominee on both the first team and second team. Making the 1st team was Marcus Lawson, an athlete who makes plays on both sides of the ball as a receiver and a defensive back, with tight end Ethan Shearer being named to the 2nd team in just his first season playing the position.

Three other WPIAL teams also had a player nominated. For the Trinity Hillers, it was nose guard Jase Banco making the 1st team. Banco finished his senior season with 54 tackles. Montour’s quarterback Jake Wolfe was nominated for 2nd team, as well as Sean Sullivan of the Thomas Jefferson Jaguars. Wolfe, a Robert Morris University Football commit, finished his senior season with 45 total touchdowns. Sullivan, a senior wide receiver, finished with 973 receiving yards.
