Abraham Lincoln, a team many considered the biggest threat to Imhotep repeating as Public League champions, will no longer get an opportunity to contend for the league title as this afternoon the league has shut the program down for the remainder of the season giving their last 2 regular season opponents forfeit wins. West Philadelphia and Imhotep will both be given wins thus ending Lincoln’s season with a 5-4 regular season record and a 2-3 division record. Due to Lincoln no longer being eligible for the playoffs George Washington, West Philadelphia, Northeast will all vie for the 2nd place playoff berth behind Imhotep in the Independence Division.
It’s clear the league is sending a message and that is there are consequences to actions detrimental to your team, school, sport and self. The incident took place after they defeated Northeast high in which multiple players and coaches were deemed guilty of violating a rule against fighting and inciting a brawl.
