
Avonworth cruises to easy win over North Catholic

It has been a dominant season so far for Avonworth and tonight was no different as they cruised to a big 42-10 win over North Catholic.
Avonworth got the ball to start the game and started inside their own 10 yard line. A couple of times it looked like North Catholic was going to stop them but a couple of big third down conversions kept the drive going. After getting into North Catholic territory the drive stalled and they punted it away.
North Catholic started their first drive on their own 12 yard line. On third down the ball was intercepted.
After the interception on the first play Luca Neal was off to the races and scored on a 51 yard touchdown run. That made the score 7-0 Avonworth with 5:00 in the first quarter.

North Catholic started their second drive on their own 27 yard line, the drive got into Avonworth territory but ended with a punt.
Avonworth started at their own 5 yard line but despite the bad field position that didn’t slow down their offense. It was a long drive after only 2 runs they were in North Catholic territory. Eventually Luca Neal finished the drive off on a 5 yard touchdown run which made the score 14-o Avonworth with 9:37 in the second quarter.

North Catholic started the next drive close to midfield. They were able to get into Avonworth territory but eventually had to punt it away.
Avonworth got the ball back and wasted no time extending their lead. On the first play of the drive Luca Neal was off to the races once again and scored on a 89 yard touchdown run. That made the score 21-0 Avonworth with 6:38 in the second quarter.
Neal was a key player in the win for Avonworth. He had 223 yards rushing on 10 carries. “He’s just a special player, I mean 20o yards rushing in the first half, had one or two catches, he’s just special, he can leg up any which way” said Coach Johncour. “It was a really good game for us, I think our offense is just really versatile, so we can just hit them in so many ways, so many different players, so yeah I think it’s just hard stop and then our defense played really well too, which led to a great win” said Neal.
North Catholic got the ball once again but went three and out and had punt it away back to Avonworth.
On the next drive Avonworth pulled a trick play when Luca Neal pictched it to Jackson Krul who threw it to Jaden Jones for a 64 yard touchdown pass making it 28-o Avonworth 4:07 in the second quarter. “Yeah we repped that this week, it was number one Jackson Pruhl, and we knew we might be able to get one, so we got one, so it was a good call by our offensive coordinator” said Coach Johncour. “Yeah we were practicing that all week, in practice, I mean, I didn’t make all the throws, but during the game it connected and it was a great play for us” said Krul.

The score at halftime was 28-o Avonworth. North Catholic got the ball to start the second half. They were able to get into Avonworth territory but again punted it away.
It wasn’t until late in the third quarter where more scoring occurred. North Catholic was able to get on the scoreboard on a 37 yard field goal by Dylan Shantz.
After that Avonworth had another big strike on offense when Dimitri Velisaris scored on a 70 yard touchdown run making the score 35-3 Avonworth. Velisaris also had a big night for Avonworth he had 148 yards on 13 carries.
A couple minutes later Avonworth made it a mercy rule game when Carson Bellinger found Luka Neal for a 50 yard touchdown pass making the score 42-3 Avonworth with 1:52 in the third quarter.

Before the game ended North Catholic was able to find the end zone on when Joey Felitsky found Preston Simko for a 48 yard touchdown pass which made the final score 42-10 Avonworth.
Next week Avonworth hosts Beaver and North Catholic travels to Hopewell.
