Penns Valley received the opening kickoff, but after a quick three and out, an errant snap on the punt set Bedford up on the Ram 13-yard line. It only took three plays for the Bison to score on a Swain run right up the middle. The Horne extra point gave Bedford a very quick 7-0 lead.Bedford forced another three and out and after a short punt, the Bison had the ball on the Ram 35-yard line. On third an eight, Swain scrambled for 17-yards to the Ram 16-yard line. Horne would burst through the line on the very next play and score to give Bedford its second touchdown with 5:12 remaining in the first quarter. Following Horne’s extra point, Bedford led 14-0.
The two teams would then trade punts, and the Rams would take over on their own twenty-five-yard line with 1:34 remaining in the first quarter. Quarterback Kolten Shawver would connect with Spencer Althouse on 12-yard and 14-yard receptions and at the start of the second quarter, Penns Valley had finally moved into Bedford territory. On third and eight, Shawver would scramble for 20 yards for a first down. He would then hit Fletcher Ironside for a 21-yard gain to set the Rams up inside the Bedford 10-yard line. Unfortunately for the Rams, Shawver would be intercepted in the end zone and an excellent opportunity to get back in the game was lost.
Bedford would need little time to extend their lead, scoring in just four plays. Swain got things started with an 18-yard run. Just two plays later he would sprint for a 55-yard touchdown run to extend the Bison lead to 21-0, following the extra point.
Following a Ram punt, Bedford would fumble on the first play from scrimmage, Cole Hagen recovered, and the Rams had the ball on the Bison 37-yard line with 3:46 remaining in the first half. On the first play, Shawver hit a streaking Althouse for 34-yards to the Bison 3-yard line. Unfortunately for the Rams, the play was wiped out by a holding penalty. The Rams did not give up and a 25-yard Shawver run gave the Rams some hope, but they would once again turn the ball over on downs in the shadow of the Bison goal line as the first half ended.

Bedford received the opening 2nd half kickoff and wasted little time putting the game away. Swain provided the big play when he broke free for a 40-yard run to move Bedford into scoring position. Senior, Treg Nave finished off the drive with a 14-yard touchdown run. The Horne extra point made the score 28-0 with 9:44 remaining in the third quarter.
After the teams traded punts, Bedford would take over on their own 26-yard line with 5:02 remaining in the third quarter. Less than three minutes later, Bedford would trigger the running clock for the rest of the game by taking a 35-0 lead. A 28-yard run by Horne and a 13-yard run by Swain set up a 12-yard touchdown run by Andrew Evans.
Both teams would substitute liberally in a quick fourth quarter and there would be no further scoring.

The experience of the Bison was clearly a determining factor in this game. Seniors, Quincy Swain and Owen Horne were outstanding. While the inexperience of the Rams was apparent, the game did provide some hope with the performances of junior, Fletcher Ironside and sophomore, Spencer Althouse. Koltin Shawver also had a nice game at quarterback. The Rams had opportunities, but they just made too many mistakes when trying to finish drives.

With the victory, Bedford moves to 2-0 for the season while Penns Valley falls to 0-2 with the loss. Bedford will be at Central Cambria next week while Penns Valley will travel to Bald Eagle to play for the Old Iron Bell.

The Bedford Bison, behind the powerful running of seniors, Quincy Swain and Owen Horne bullied its way to a 35-0 victory over the very young Penns Valley Rams.
