Mekale stated “as a leader my mindset today was to make sure everyone got their assignment done”. Franklin for most of the day played discipline and Mekale emphasized we worked hard and followed our coaches directions”. He concluded with “Everyone can expect the Electrons to make a statement this year”.
His teammate Makel also shined recording 5 receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown while adding 2 passes broken up and 3 tackles on defense. Makel when asked how he maintained his composure and was able to dominate on both sides of the ball all afternoon he stated “I just played my game knowing what I can do on offense being a playmaker and turning around with the same mentality on the other side of the ball.” He emphasized that the hard work during the week during practice paid off for the Electrons “It was hard but us as players for Franklin we don’t quit or give up but we’re just getting started and still got a long season ahead of us”. With regards to being a leader on this team he pointed out “I know that I can lead my team to get where we need to be but I can’t do any of this if it wasn’t for my guys trusting me as a leader and bringing my value to the team”.
Sr. QB Kareim McKeller also flashed as a dual threat signal caller. Defensively Sophomore lineman Jeff Rollins flashed with a couple of tackles for losses while fellow sophomore DB Ileem Mines excelled in run support laying a few bone crushing hits.
