HARMONY, PA – It was a rough night to be a Raiders fan at Nextier Stadium. Following a disappointing 3-7 season, Ron Butschle’s squad looked to start their 2024 campaign with a win over the Blackhawks. Instead, Bethel Park dominated Seneca Valley on both sides of the ball, resulting in a crushing 50-14 triumph over the Raiders.

Bethel Park’s offense would strike early, with senior running back Ja Vaughn Moore finding the end zone after a 6-yard rushing touchdown. Seneca Valley’s offense was looking to respond when a Jack Bruckner 66-yard pick six would quickly put the Blackhawks up 15-0. Then on the following drive, William Sabatos would join the party with a 14-yard pick six of his own.

At the halfway mark of the second quarter, Bethel Park would add to their lead following a quarterback sneak touchdown from Tanner Pfeuffer. Seneca Valley’s offense would finally respond with a quarterback sneak of their own, with Andrew Loebig getting the Raiders on the board with under a minute to go in the half.

Unfortunately for Seneca Valley, the Blackhawks weren’t going to be cooled down following halftime. Tanner Pfeuffer found Mitchell Paschl for a 29-yard touchdown, putting Bethel Park up by 29. Seneca Valley would quickly respond with a 12-yard touchdown pass from Loebig to Toledo commit Jayden Price. However, before the Raiders were done celebrating the score, Ja Vaughn Moore would take a screen pass 80 yards to the house, killing any momentum the Raiders had built.

Ja Vaughn Moore was not done yet, catching a 1-yard TD from Pfeuffer on the first play of the fourth quarter. Another interception for Bethel Park would seal the game, with the Blackhawks victorious.

Bethel Park will have a similar drive next Friday night as they take on the nearby Mars Fightin’ Planets. Seneca Valley will head south to take on the Indians of North Hills.
