Blue Mountain Eagles Improve to 4-2 with dominating performance on the road.

LEHIGHTON- The Blue Mountain Eagles used about every way possible to put points up on the scoreboard Thursday night at Lehighton’s Multi-purpose Stadium en route to a 41-13 thrashing of the Indians in a key Colonial/Schuylkill League contest in the misty rain before a moderate group of a patrons.

Lehighton won the coin toss and elected to receive behind Freshman quarterback Owen Eckert, who was pressed into service as injuries to both signal callers for the Indians sidelined them. DB Gage Guers stepped in front of an Eckert pass on the opening drive that setup a three yard score for Payton Fashnacht score with 7:20 remaining in the first quarter and a 6-0 lead as the PAT was no good.

Quarterback Tyler Miller commanded the Eagles second drive as he bolted for a 40 yard run and then capped off the drive with a seven yard score and also converted the two point conversion to make the score 14-0 with 2:20 still left in the opening quarter.

On the ensuing Indian drive Eckert showed poise and composure as he marched Lehighton downfield as he rumbled for a 30 yard run and the RB Dylan Moyer dashed into the end zone from 27 yards to cut the lead to 14-6 as they missed the PAT on the first play of the second quarter.

Reese Miller then took the kickoff and promptly returned it 76 yards for an Eagles score that began a barrage of points for the visitors that seemingly put the game away by halftime.

An eleven play 55 yard drive for Blue Mounatain culminated in a four yard touchdown pass from Tyler Miller to Will Jacobson with just six seconds left in the half and a 26-6 Eagles lead. Lehighton fumbled the kickoff return back to Blue Mountain with 2 seconds left at the Indians 30 but the defense was able to know the pass down in the end zone as the teams headed to the lock room.

Lehighton’s plague of turning the ball over contined in the second half as Jacobson picked off an Eckert pass late in the third quarter in Indian territory which led to a Lukas Kauffman score from two yards out and a 33-6 lead at the 2:24 mark.

At the start of the final quarter Hunter Blankenhorn stepped in front of an Eckert pass and hugged the sidelines for a 31 yard touchdown to make it 41-6.

Dylan Moyer would close out the scoring in the game as he converted from three yards out with 7:24 left to play to make it 41-13.

Blue Mountain improves to 4-2 on the season coming off a disappointing 41-12 loss to Southern Lehigh. The Eagles will be on the road next Saturday against winless Wilson Area. The Warriors will be at 5-0 Southern Lehigh Friday night. Lehighton 2-4 will be at home next Friday against the Bangor Slaters, who are currenty 4-1 and they open up the second half of their season Friday at home against 1-4 Pottsville Crimson Tide.

RB Payton Fasnacht of Blue Mountain had this to say about his team’s win.
