Bonner hosted Cardinal O’Hara in a Catholic league red division matchup in an early than normal 4pm kickoff due to neighboring Upper Darby also having an home game at 5pm. Bonner started the game slow fumbling the opening kickoff and O’Hara turned that short field into a 34 yard field goal for an early 3-0 lead.
Bonner responded with a 29 yard touchdown throw from Noel Campbell to Tarif Nixon to take a 6-3 lead early in the 2nd quarter. Defensively Bonner stifled O’Hara in the 2nd quarter for the most part including earning a safety and two points to stretch the halftime lead to 8-3.
In the second half O’Hara came out energized and behind strong running from Sr RB Amahj Gowans the Lions marched down field to the 1 yard line where QB John Welde used a QB sneak to pummel into the end zone and give the Lions a 10-8 lead. Bonner scored to reclaim the lead early in the 4th quarter when Noel found Danny Buckton for a 52 yard touchdown to give the Friars a 15-10 lead. O’Hara offense stalled offensively in the 4th quarter and Bonner added the insurance score with a 13 yard Noel to Dylan Abrams for the final score of 22-10. For O’Hara Amahj had a big day on the ground rushing for over 100 yards while defensively Sr DE Sammy Dantonka had multiple tackle for losses. For Bonner Noel finished the day with over 100 yards passing and 3 touchdowns while Tarif Nixon also claimed an interception on defense.
