Chismar Sets All-Time Passing Mark for Golden Lions

Greensburg Salem offense lines up vs Yough in the red zone in their 41-7 win Friday night
After making a surprising playoff appearance in 2024, the Greensburg Salem Golden Lions were looking to carry that momentum into the 2025 season. Things have not gone as planned as they entered Senior Night vs the Yough Cougars 2-6 on the year, searching for their first Interstate Conference win and first win at home.
They were able to get that first win Friday night, while their junior quarterback etched his name in program history.
Greensburg Salam (3-6, 1-3) rolled over visiting Yough (2-7, 0-4) in downtown Greensburg 41-7. Junior QB Brody Chismar powered the Golden Lion offense on the air and on the ground, going 15/27 for 213 yards and 3 TDs with 1 interception while carrying the ball 14 times for 69 yards and touchdown.
Chismar’s performance put him in the history books for Greensburg Salem. The junior became the all-time leader in career passing yards for the Golden Lions in the first half, passing Hayden Teska who held the previous record of 2,762 yards. But Chismar wasn’t done as he tied Josh Falatovich for the all-time career passing touchdown mark with 35 career passing touchdowns. And for a program with 721 all-time wins, that’s impressive.
Two of Chismar’s touchdown passes on the night were hauled in by senior wide receiver Max Topper, who had one of his best games of his career. Topper finished the game with 9 catches, 140 and those 2 touchdowns, one of those coming on a 48 yard hail mary in the back of the endzone on the last play of the first half, which gave the Golden Lions a 28-7 lead at the half.
Sophomore wide receiver Brayden Miller caught the other touchdown pass from Chismar, going for 60 yards and 3 catches for the game. Senior running backs LeTrey Derry and Anthony Matthews both added short touchdowns for Greensburg Salem on the ground.
Yough’s lone touchdown came with 30 seconds left in the first half on a 1 yard touchdown run by sophomore John Gergely, who rushed for 63 yards on 23 carries. Junior QB Aiden Shaffer led the Cougars in rushing on the night with 14 carries for 64 yards, but struggled through the air, going 9/23 for 59 yards and 3 interceptions. Greensburg Salem seniors Caden Orr, Noah Dudek and Akehim McCreary hauled in the interceptions.
Greensburg Salem will hit the road next for their final game of the season next week against Southmoreland. Yough will face Derry on the road in their season finale.
