Cambria Heights dominates River Valley in clash of top teams!

Heritage Conference Game of the Week

8/29/25 River Valley Panthers (1-0) @ Cambria Heights Highlanders (1-0)

Last Meeting 8/23/24 CH 28 @ RV 12

What a difference a year makes. The Highlanders were the team to beat and the Panthers were one of the top teams. The Highlanders were loaded at the skill positions. The Panthers had a chance towards the end of the second quarter and start of the third but CH made the plays and won. This year everyone was penciling in the Panthers. The Highlanders were supposed to be in contention. But like I said in my podcast the big guys up front win the games. Cambria Heights is a factory for linemen. Coach Jarrod Lewis who is a great actor, he tried to convince me that his team was not the team to beat. I didn’t buy it at Media Day and I don’t buy it after tonight. I’ll see the Highlanders again in two weeks.

The Panthers have a nice set of skill players in quarterback Max Perschetti, running back Brody Hutter and Athlete Jake Woodring. I really didn’t know who the Highlanders were going to use to make plays. I would like to apologize for not knowing who Nolan Clawson was. But it was the five guys up front for CH who would set the tone for this one. Tackle Hayden Leamer, Guard Nathan Wood, Center Justin Galinis, Guard Jackie Sherwood and Tackle James Holtz dominated the Panthers defense. The Highlanders defense was even better than the offense. River Valley managed just one long Hutter touchdown run and Perschetti never had time to drop back let alone pass the ball. Woodring was bottled up all night.

1st Half

Panthers 5 possessions 3 punts, turn over on downs & a touchdown

Highlanders 6 possessions fumble, punt, three touchdowns and half

The Panthers had less than 40 yards in offense if you take away Hutter’s touchdown run. They actually had more yardage than this but Perschetti was sacked on three consecutive plays to end the first quarter.

The Highlanders had over 200 yards mixing the run with the pass. Quarterback Kaiden Ivory split snaps with Clawson who ran the Wildcat offense. All but one drive end in the end zone or in Panthers territory.

Things got worst in the second half for River Valley.

2nd Half

Panthers 6 possessions turn over on downs, 2 punts, 2 fumbles & an interception

Highlanders 6 possessions 2 touchdowns, missed field goal, fumble, turn over on downs , end of game

For the back to back D6 Champs, you are still the king until someone beats you.
