Cardinal O’Hara Sr. LB Sidique Kamara is a two way terror for the Lions. Saturday evening he announced that his recruitment was over and he was fully committed to MAC program Ohio University. In 2024 the 6-2 220lbs Sidique rushed 24 times for 135 yards and 6 scores while adding 40 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss & 1 fumble recovery for a touchdown. Kamara totaled 40 tackles on the year. He gathered 27 solo tackles, and if you want to talk playmaking, he picked up a fumble and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown week two against Archbishop Wood. He also picked up 1.5 sacks.
Sidique stated his reason for choosing Ohio was “the family atmosphere and how genuine the coaches were with me from the start. I could tell they believed in me not just as a player but as a person, and Athens really felt like home. It’s a place where I know I can grow on and off the field.”
Heading into his Senior year Kamara has a few individual achievements to date. For starters, he was 2nd Team All-Conference as well as 2nd Team All-Area. He was also an Honorable Mention for All-State, something else to add on is that he is the #6 ranked linebacker in the state of Pennsylvania.
When talking about his play on defense, it’s definitely unique. The hard-hitting Linebacker can do it all. He’s very fast off the ball, and in the open field. In his final season at Cardinal O’Hara, Kamara looks to improve from last season as well as help his team win this upcoming season.
With offers from Ohio, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech & Army, he stated despite the other interest he choose Ohio because “I had interest from a few other schools, but once Ohio came into the picture and I built that relationship with the staff, I knew where I wanted to be. It just felt like the best fit for me.”
O’Hara is looking to take the next step in their second year in the Catholic League Red Division. In 2024 while going 2-4“ in the division they gave 4A champion Bonner all it could handle and their closest game in the post season last year falling 28-21. Sidique stated “You can expect us to play fast, physical, and with a lot of energy. We’ve got a strong group of guys who’ve put in the work all offseason, and we’re locked in on making this season special. Our goal is to compete every game and bring a lot of excitement to O’Hara football.”
A resident of Sharon Hill Sidique wanted to make sure he gave thanks to those who helped and supported him through getting to this day. He stated “Definitely I’m thankful for my family first—they’ve supported me through everything. Also my coaches and teammates who’ve pushed me to get better every single day. And of course God, because none of this would be possible without Him.”
The senior season goals for Sidique are simple “My goals are to lead my team, win as many games as possible, and leave a legacy at O’Hara. Personally, I just want to keep improving every week, dominate on the field, and get myself ready to make an impact at Ohio.”
