Central Bucks West and Pennridge were locked in a close battle until the fourth quarter. The Bucks wore down the Rams by running the ball 42 times and attempting just six throws on the night. Noah Miller and Ryan Clemens’ hardnosed efforts were rewarded as the dam finally broke in the fourth, leading to a 38-7 Bucks win.

Pennridge got the ball first and Ryan Rowe took the first snap over the left side for 16 yards. Noah Keating hit Chase Marshall for 12 more and the Rams crossed midfield on their opening possession. The drive stalled on the Bucks 49 and a punt backed up the Bucks to their own 10.

CB West’s first possession resulted in their second longest scoring drive of the night. It took five plays to go 90 yards. Ryan Clemens ran off the left side and a personal foul facemask moved the Bucks beyond their own 40. Two plays later, Noah Miller took it 62 yards to the house down the far sideline.

Chase Marshall gathered in the ensuing kickoff and raced 54 yards down the near side, setting up Pennridge on the CB West 41. In just two plays, the Rams tied the game at 7-7. Noah Keating threw into the right side of the end zone and Marshall pulled in the 30 yard touchdown, beating Ethan Sutherland in single coverage.

The teams then exchanged turnovers. Trevor Fuhs forced a fumble recovered by Andrew Volberg, stopping the Bucks in Rams territory. Pennridge started at their own 45 and drove the ball deep. Along the way, the Rams converted a 4th & 8 with a Chase Clontz reception. Keating appeared to have a wide open receiver deep over the middle near the end zone. However, Louie Cipollo read the rout, and undercut it, moving to his right for an interception.

With the Bucks backed up on their own two, the Pennridge defense had visions of getting the ball back in good field position. On the first play of the drive, though, Clemens exploded for a 90 yard gain down the middle of the field. Miller then carried to the one and in for a touchdown to put CB West up 14-7 with 9:55 to play in the half.

Pennridge moved near midfield on their next possession. Noah Keating then tried to avoid pressure in the backfield and scrambled from his left to right, trying to make something happen. He was met by Gavin Todd for a sack and loss of 18 yards, ending the drive. The Bucks nearly extended their lead, but a Todd run to the one yard line was called back for holding.

As the teams reached the half, CB West was up 14-7, gaining all of their nearly 250 yards on the ground.

Everything changed over the course of the third quarter. The Bucks got the ball first and drove 59 yards over 15 plays, eating the first nine minutes of the quarter. Pennridge, though, had an incredible goal line stand, stopping Bucks ball carriers three times in a row from the one yard line. On fourth down, CB West was poised to go for it again, but a false start pushed them back. Clemens booted through a 24-yard field goal to put CB West up 17-7.

After a quick three and out, Noah Miller broke off another long run, going 72 yards for a score. The touchdown was called back on a late block in the back, but the Bucks retained the ball on the Rams 18. Clemens scored his first touchdown of the game on the opening play of the fourth quarter, going in from six yards out and extending the Central Bucks West lead to 24-7.

Physically drained and mentally demoralized, Pennridge was worn down. Jeff Cappa, from his defensive tackle position, recorded a seven yard tackle for loss. The very next play, Caiden Harris stripped the ball and recovered, setting up the Bucks on the Rams nine yard line. With 10:25 to play, Clemens ran it over the left side of the line for an 11-yard touchdown. At 31-7, the game was now out of reach.

For good measure, Clemens made a play on defense, picking off Keating on the far sideline. Three plays later, Clemens added the finishing touches on a 38-7 victory, racing 52 yards to the house.

Ryan Clemens finished his outstanding evening with 24 carries for 263 yards and three scores. Noah Miller ran 11 times for 163 yards and two scores. The offense recorded 436 rushing yards. Miller was 2/6 for 25 yards through the air.

Defensively for the Bucks, Pennridge was held to one first down in the second half, running only 16 plays. The Rams were limited to shy of 150 offensive yards and did not cross midfield after the first quarter.

Central Bucks West will host North Penn next Friday night. Pennridge will be on the road at Central Bucks East.
