On Saturday night I was at the PIAA 2A District 3 Championship game. Trinity came out and played a great game and dominated Annville-Cleona all night. A super impressive effort by Trinity. Annville-Cleona deserves a ton of credit as they had a great season. Congratulations to Annville-Cleona, but a great win by Trinity.

Team of the week: Cocalico. For the 2nd week in a row, Cocalico got on a bus and went out and beat a higher-seed team at their home. Super impressive win on Friday night. They beat a good Gettysburg team 23-13. Next up the traveling band of Cocalico will travel to Solanco to try to knock off the top-seeded team in 5A. They will also try to avenge a loss to Soalnco from earlier this year, a 21-7 loss.

Coach of the week: Jordan Hill of Trinity. After going 3-6 in his 1st year Hill has turned around the Trinity program this year. They improved to 8-4 on the year with there win Saturday night. Hill deserves a ton of credit for getting his team this far in the season.

Player of the week: Brycen Armold Manheim Central. 205 yards rushing and 6 rushing touchdowns. Yes 6 rushing touchdowns. Impressive effort by Arnold in the 63-14 win over York Suburban. Next up for Central is Lampeter-Strasburg.

Player of the week 2: Hayden Johnson Manheim Township. 298 yards passing, two passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns for Johnson. He helped lead Manheim Township to a win over Cumberland Valley 37-31. Impressive effort by Johnson. Next up for them is a game against Hempfield.

Top 5 most impressive wins in District III Playoffs so far:

1) Manheim Township 37-31 Cumberland Valley. Manheim Township was down and battled back to win this game. Never easy to go on the road and get a win, so super impressive effort for Township.

2) West Perry 63-Lancaster Catholic 20. West Perry went on the road and beat the undefeated crusaders on Friday night. A huge effort by West Perry to come in and defeat the undefeated Crusaders.

3) Central York 51-York High 44. A rematch from 2 weeks ago, when Central York won that game as well. Central York won the game with a goal line stand at the end of the game. Great effort by Central York to beat there rivals for the 2nd time in 3 weeks.

4) Trinity 58-Annville Cleona 27. Trinity’s coach said it best when he said the most important part of the game was the 1st Quarter. Trinity jumped on Annville-Cleona and they had no answer all night. Trinity really proved they were the better team.

5) Northern York 21-New Oxford. Northern York survived and won by 1 point against South Western 21-20 in round 1 of playoffs.  A great win by them. Then they beat New Oxford this week. North York the 11th seed will now try to upset the number 2 seed Exeter.
