Giving all credit to his offensive line, pictured above, Cole Ordway showed no signs of being tired after his seven touchdown performance against Nazareth Friday night. His final score was perhaps the most impressive, as he ran over and through the final Blue Eagles defender on the 56-yard run.

On Easton’s opening drive, Ordway connected with Andrew Biddle for 35 yards to quickly move the no-huddle hurry-up offense into Nazareth territory. Chris Martinez had a 17 yard carry and Ordway capped the scoring drive with a 4th & Goal keeper from one yard out. With 8:48 to go in the first, the Rovers led 7-0.

Ordway’s legs helped on their next drive, as well. After runs of 18 and 14, along with a personal foul against the Eagles, Ordway scored from a yard out to move the lead to 14-0. After forcing another punt, Easton was poised to score again, but ended up punting from the Nazareth 32. The punt was downed on the 1-yard line and on the next play, Marquez Wimberly was caught in the end zone for a safety. Easton led 16-0 after one quarter.

On their ensuing drive, Ordway broke free from traffic over the right side, turned the corner and bolted 54 yards to the house. With 10:42 to go in the half, Easton was already on top 23-0 and showed no signs of slowing down. The team went on to run for 440 yards on the night behind those unsung heroes in the trenches known as the offensive line. Algee Macon(who also had two sacks on the night), Kurtis Crossman, Anthony Diaz, Domenec Guadagnino, and Matt Kirchner to name a few.

With 5:35 left in the half and facing a 4th & 3, Ordway again took the ball and raced 27 yards for another touchdown, extending the lead to 30-0.

Nazareth finally mounted a promising drive late in the half, but on consecutive plays, the Easton defense stood tall and stopped a 4th down pass short of the end zone.

Nazareth got up from the mat on the opening play of the third quarter, as Jayden Quach took a short pass and broke away down the far sideline for 76 yards and a score. The Blue Eagles still trailed 30-7 and Easton wasn’t slowing down anytime soon.

With a couple of setups from Trevon Tyler, who amassed 110 rushing yards, Ordway was able to score from short yardage twice more, before capping the game with his impressive final TD run.

Nazareth was held to 21 net rushing yards in this contest, while Ordway accounted for 340 all-purpose yards alone. The Rovers averaged 8.3 yards per carry behind the guys up front, propelling Easton to the top seed in the upcoming District XI 6A playoffs. They will host Emmaus next Friday night. Nazareth retained the #3 seed and hosts Northampton.
