Crestwood gets past Pittston Area

There was one word that Crestwood head coach Ryan Arcangeli can say about senior Lincoln Bibla. “Special.” Arcangeli said. “He’s a strong kid, his character is strong. He works so hard and deserves this.” Arcangeli continues. Bibla had two rushing touchdowns as Crestwood got their road victory at Pittston Area 21-14. Bibla on his performance tonight. “It’s awesome. I love running the ball. I can force my will on defense and on offense. I couldn’t do this without my blockers.”

Crestwood started with the ball. On a third and 1, Jacob Jeckell gained 49 yards into Pittston Area territory at the 19. The Comets faced a fourth and goal at the one and Lincoln Bibla scored from one yard out to make it 7-0 Crestwood with 7:08 remaining in the first quarter.

Late in the second, a Jack Rodgers to Bibla connection set up Crestwood with a first and goal. Rodgers found Colin Lazo for a seven yard touchdown to make it 14-0 Comets with 1:18 remaining in the second quarter. On the ensuing kickoff, Lucas LoPresto returned the kick 95 yards to cut the Crestwood lead down to 14-7 with 1:02 to go til halftime and that was the score at halftime.

After the Patriots were forced to punt on the opening drive of the second half, Pittston Area got an interception from Malcolm Blackshear to set the Patriots up with good field position at their own 43 First play of the drive, Matt Walter found LoPresto for a 41 yard gain to the Comet 16 yard line. After a false start backed up Pittston Area to the 21 yard line. On a third and 11, Walter found LoPresto for a 17 yard score to tie the game at 14 with 4:35 remaining in the third quarter.

Crestwood looked like they were driving down to take the lead to end the quarter but a fumble recovered by Colton Lis of the Patriots ended the drive. The Patriots were unable to capitalize and punted the ball away as we started the fourth quarter.
The game remained tied until late in the fourth quarter until Lincoln Bibla scored from six yards out for his second touchdown of the game to make it 21-14 Crestwood with 3:15 left. Pittston Area looked to tie the game. On a fourth and 5, Walter’s pass was intercepted by Jack Rodgers. The Comets ran out the clock, highlighted by a Bibla 15 yard run where he pushed back a pile of Patriots defenders as Crestwood defeated Pittston Area 21-14. The Comets improve to 3-3 and have won two straight games.
