Semifinal Recap
Lakeview
After getting upset by Mercer, 28-20, on October 13th, Lakeview made sure that wouldn’t happen again, and Mitchell Tingley was a big reason why, as he ran for a game-high 163 yards on 18 attempts. The Sailors outgained the Mustangs 308 to 162 in total offensive yards. Three second-quarter touchdowns proved the difference as Tingley scored on runs of three and four yards while Aiden Osborne added a 2-yard run. Mercer scored a third-quarter touchdown on Rider Chiappini’s 25-yard pass to Daemyin Mattocks. However, Tingley scored on runs of three and 48 yards to seal the victory in the final stanza. Cambridge Springs
Having throttled Eisenhower 48-0 on September 1st, the Knights could have laid down and died – instead, they gave the Blue Devils more than they wanted to handle as Cambridge Springs had to rally from a 20-8 fourth-quarter deficit, scoring two touchdowns in the final 8:36. Eisenhower had taken a 20-8 lead when Kris Bunk caught a 51-yard pass from Shawn Pascuzzi. Josh Gorton’s 5-yard run with six minutes to play pulled the Blue Devils to within 20-16. Cambridge Springs then drove 85 yards in the final 3:30 after forcing a punt, capped with Morgan Applebee’s 22-yard touchdown pass to Preston Gorton with 26 seconds left, giving the Blue Devils a dramatic 22-20 victory.
