District 12 Playoff Preview & Inter-Ac Regular Season Finale Notes

We have reached the playoffs for both the CL and Public League with a few city title games this weekend as well. Let’s get into the rankings for the City League Teams as things have been shaken up the last week or two.

PUBLIC LEAGUE INVITATIONAL FINALS Friday 11/7 @3pm (Germantown Supersite)

#1 Boys Latin (6-4) v #2 Mastery Charter North (6-3):

In the regular season matchup 3 weeks ago Boys Latin got the better of Mastery winning 12-0. This game will be a closely contested game with both teams being highly familiar with one another. Boys Latin Sr. QB Jeremiah Roach is experienced in playoff games as he is a 3-year starter while Mastery has experience as well having been to the 5A public league title game just a year ago. On the season Boys Latin averages 17 points per game while giving up roughly 13 points per game. Mastery on the other hand is averaging 22 points per game while their defense has been outstanding only giving up an average of 6 points per game.

PUBLIC LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME Saturday 11/8 @ Noon (Northeast Supersite)

#1 Imhotep Charter (7-4) v #4 Abraham Lincoln (7-4):

Imhotep is looking to repeat as 6A Public League champions however Lincoln is looking to dethrone the champions. Last year in the 6A finals Imhotep needed a QB sneak at the buzzer to escape with the win. In the regular season finale this season Lincoln upset the champions to earn a playoff berth so many believe this Lincoln team could be the new big dogs in the league.

IMHOTEP:

Jr. QB Joey McLeish has thrown for over 2000 yards and accounted for 20+ touchdowns this season. Sr. WR Zah Pollard, So. WR Brian Culmer, & So. WR Byire Murphy are the leading receivers for the Panthers. Sr. RB Syeer Coleman and So. Yazid McCorkle are the leading rushers. Upfront Sr. OL Jessee Moody (Maryland), Sr. OL Bran Graves Jr., & Sr. OL Brian Moore Jr. are the leaders and muscle. Defensively Sr. DL Joseph Sondah, Sr. DL Zake Wiggins-Hall, Jr. DL Jysair Carson, Jr. DL Nyeem Powerll & Sr. DL Amir Blackshear are the leaders upfront. Sr. LB Charles Belser is the signal caller while the secondary is stacked with Sr. Willie Norris, Jr. Malik Drayton, Sr. Mikel Pierce, So. Kaleb Woseley & So. Kassan Chappelle. Tep is averaging 37 points per game offensively while giving up 16 points per game this season.

LINCOLN:

Sr. QB Kareem Moore Jr. leads the Railsplitters offense. Kareem this season has shattered the school single game record for touchdown passes with 7. With a strong game he could surpass the school record for touchdown passes in a season (34) set by 2023 Gabe Smalley. Amongst his favorite targets are So. WR Nehmiah Coston, Sr. WR Jamir Duncan (Delaware State), Sr. WR Nymir Marable & WR Elvin Beh. The leading rusher is Sr. RB Koi Muse. Defensively the Railsplitters utilize Jamir as a defensive back who is a shutdown cornerback, Sr. CB Shafeeq Williams leads the team in interceptions and returned a pick a school record 101 yards for a score earlier this season, Sr. DL Alvin Yates & Sr. DL Negus Kwaokudji. The Railsplitters average 34 points per game and give up roughly 16 points per game.

DISTRICT 12 5A Title Game: Saturday 11/8 @ Noon (Germantown Supersite)

Olney (6-4) v Roman Catholic (7-3):

OLNEY:

The Trojans enjoying a great season in which they qualified for the Public League Playoffs and finished 2nd in their division. They defeated the eventual division winner Palumbo 34-8 and enjoyed a 5-game winning streak before being dispatched by Imhotep in the quarterfinals of the playoffs. Offensively they score points in bunches averaging 23 points per game while giving up about 16 points per game.

ROMAN: The Callihites enter the game on a 3-game winning streak and outside of their narrow loss to St. Joes Prep in overtime they’ve beaten all of their instate opponents including the top ranked La Salle. Sr. QB Semaj Beals (Akron) has thrown for 2404 yards & 31 touchdowns this season while also rushing for 3 touchdowns on the ground. So. RB Trey Montgomery is the leading rusher with 439 yards & 5 total touchdowns. Sr. WR Ash Roberts (Temple) leads the team in receptions & yards with 46 receptions & 669 yards with 9 receiving touchdowns and 2 via kick returns. Sr. WR Eyan Stead has 45 receptions & 643 yards with 8 receiving yards. Jr. WR Jayden Alford has 25 receptions for 515 yards & 6 touchdowns. Sr. OL Khalif McNear (Temple) leads the offensive line with Jr. OL Sebastian Waddell leads the grunts upfront. Defensively Jr. DB Haamir Lowry leads the team in interceptions with 3. Jr. LB Walter Hudson leads the team with 81 tackles and 13 tackles for loss. Sr. DB Justus Gaskin (Stony Brook) has 45 tackles, 2 interceptions and 8 passes defended. So. DB Sabir Dawson  has 42 tackles, 2 interceptions including one returned for a touchdown, 1 fumble recovered & returned for a touchdown, 3 forced fumbles and 2 sacks. Roman has averaged 36 points per game while giving up roughly 25 points per game.

CATHOLIC LEAGUE 4A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: Saturday 11/8 @11am (Cardinal O’Hara)

#1 Bonner-Prendie (6-4) v #2 Cardinal O’Hara (7-4):

BONNER:

The Friars are the defending CL and PIAA 4A champions looking to repeat after a challenging regular season schedule. In the earlier regular season matchup Bonner took home the victory 22-10. Jr. QB Noel Campbell Jr. has thrown for 1388 yards & 14 touchdowns. His top targets are Sr. WR Ty Morris (44 receptions, 482 yards & 4 touchdowns), Sr. WR Tarif Nixon (18 receptions, 371 yards & 5 touchdowns) and Temple commit Sr. WR/DB Dylan Abram (23 receptions, 278 yards & 2 touchdowns). The leading rusher is Stonehill College commit Sr. RB Saalem Frink who has racked up 759 rushing yards & 13 touchdowns. Jr. RB Omarie Demercado has stepped up in recent weeks totaling 305 yards & 4 touchdowns. Defensively the Friars are led by UMASS commit Sr. LB CJ Amobi who has racked up 45 tackles, 1 interception returned for a touchdown, 1 forced fumble and 6.5 sacks. The Friars offensively are averaging 25 points per game while defensively giving up 17 points per game.

O’HARA:

The Lions are fresh off a dominating win over Archbishop Ryan (44-21). Sr. RB Amahj Gowans leads the PCL in rushing with 1577 yards & 17 overall touchdowns. Sr. QB John Welde has thrown for 849 yards & 7 touchdowns. Sr. WR Fode Wilks is the leading receiver with 316 receiving yards & 4 touchdowns. Defensively Sr. LB Isaac Day leads the team with 56 tackles. Sr. DL Tristian Laing leads the team in sacks with 7 while also recovering 2 fumbles, returning one for a touchdown and registering 10 tackles for loss. Sr. DL Hakim Allah leads the team in tackles for loss with 14 while also registering 6 sacks.

DISTRICT 12 3A Title Game: Saturday 11/8 @ 12pm (South Philly Supersite)

John Bartram (8-3) v Neumann Goretti (7-4):

JOHN BARTRAM:

John Bartram finished the 2024 season with 0 wins and turned the program around this past offseason finishing 2nd in the Liberty Division & earning the #5 seed for the Public League Playoffs. They advanced to the semi-finals before falling to Imhotep. Sr. Athlete Amare Gadson is the team MVP and leads the offense as a dual threat QB.

NEUMANN GORETTI:

The Saints are fresh off a big win over Conwell Egan and are led the duo of RB’s in Jr. A’mar Woodson (597 yards & 10 total touchdowns) and So. Mahki Mitchell (646 yards & 7 touchdowns). When they need to pass the ball they’ve used 2 quarterbacks since the season opener injury to So. Shane Salley.  Fr. QB Marquis Coleman (728 yards & 3 touchdowns) has assumed the signal caller role at the end of the season and will be under center for this title game. Jr. Cassius Law leads the team in sacks with 4.5. So. DT Mason Bey leads the team in sacks and tackles for loss with 4.5 and 12. The Saints average 16 points per game and give up roughly 14 points per game.

District 12/1 Subregional 2A Playoff Game: Saturday 11/8 @11am (Bristol HS)

Lansdale Catholic (9-2) @ Bristol (9-2):

LANSDALE:

The Crusaders are the 2x defending CL 2A champions and look to challenge for the PIAA 2A state title game this post season. Led by Sr. QB Yeboa Cobbold (Akron) who has rushed for 1069 yards & 11 touchdowns as well as passed for 960 yards & thrown for 12 touchdowns. Sr. RB Nick O’Brien has chipped in with 606 rushing yards & 8 scores. The leading receiver is Sr. WR James Webb who has 301 yards & 6 total touchdowns. Defensively Navy commit Sr. LB Darren Jackson (32 tackles, 1 interception, 2 fumble recoveries & 13 tackles for loss), Sr. LB Russell Holmes (52 tackles, 11 sacks, 22 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles & 1 fumble recovery), Sr. Breaden Smith (95 tackles, 3 interceptions including 1 returned for a touchdown, 1 forced & recovered fumble, 2 sacks and 9 tackles for loss), Sr. DB James Webb (6 interceptions) and Jr. DB Asher Thickening (32 tackles & 3 interceptions) pace a strong and stingy defense that only surrenders 10 points per game against the 27 points their offense puts out on average each week.

BRISTOL:

The Warriors are winners of 3 straight and are led by Sr. QB Brady Slate, Sr. WR/KR/S Talon Nemeth, WR/DB Kyleal Cottrell, LB/RB Braylen Williams, OL/DL Marco Berrocal, LB/RB Byrce Bornice, OL/DL Dom Capriotti, OL/DL Shane Feeney, LB/DL Jacob Barber & TE/DE Eddie Diaz.

District 12 v District 1 Subregional Playoff: Friday 7pm

Belmont Charter (8-1) v Morrisville (7-4):

BELMONT:

The Tigers 2025 season concluded with a Division title, promotion in 2026 to the top division in the public league and saw them tie a school record for wins in a season. Freshman QB Nafis Watkins leads the offense and is the school record holder for yards & touchdowns in a season by a freshman. Athletes Tahir Tucker, Shyneem Newsuan, Moise Fluerival, Elias Colon, Azir Butts, Aiden Ivory & Nasir Mosley all are playmakers who shine on both sides of the ball. Belmont has scored

MORRISVILLE:

The Tigers are led by LB/TE Alex Brown, LB Shakur Dismukes, RB/DE Iziere Caraway, WR/CB Merik Johnson, RB/LB Jovan Rivera, OL/DL Mike Gannon & FB/DL Javier Robledo. The offense when rolling is explosive as they average 29 points per game while the defense is pretty sound giving up only 14 points per game. In last year’s matchup in the sub-regional game Morrisville fell 28-7 so there is a little revenge factor for the Tigers this year with the hopes of advancing deeper into the playoffs this season.
