District 2 2A Final

Riverside at Dunmore

Fri 7 PM

Riverside defeated Mid Valley in the semifinals to advance to the Championship game. Dunmore defeated Susquehanna to get to the District Final. Dunmore defeated Riverside 20-16 in their Week 4 meeting. Vikings quarterback Chase Taddonio is throwing for 1,638 yards and 24 touchdowns. Taddonio also has nine rushing touchdowns on the year. Wideout Reese Gaughan has caught 54 passes for 844 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also has 624 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Junior tight end Richie Kostoff has 29 catches for 414 yards and five touchdowns. Bucks running back Daniel Pigga has 1,163 yards rushing with nine touchdowns. Pigga also has 25 catches for 436 yards and six touchdowns. On defense, he has three interceptions, returning one for a touchdown. Quarterback Thomas Bowen has thrown for 933 yards and 11 touchdowns. Bowen also has eight rushing touchdowns on the season. Wideout Domenic DeSando has 318 rushing yards and six touchdowns. DeSando also has 12 catches for 213 yards and two touchdowns. Riverside is looking to win their first District Championship since 2010. Dunmore is looking for their first District Championship since 2020. It’s a matchup of polar opposites. Dunmore’s rushing attack against Riverside’s high flying offense.

District 2 3A Final

Western Wayne at Scranton Prep

Sat 1 PM at Dunmore HS

Western Wayne defeated Lake-Lehman to advance to District Championship. Scranton Prep defeated Hanover Area to reach the Championship game. The two teams did not meet in the 2023 regular season. Wildcats running back Josh Vinton has 1,547 yards and 21 touchdowns. Quarterback Frankie Leyshon is throwing for 1,007 yards and seven touchdowns. Receiver/defensive back Sean Owens has 28 catches for 423 yards and four touchdowns on the season. Cavaliers quarterback Louis Paris is throwing for 974 yards and 14 touchdowns. Paris also has 413 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the season. Wideout Liam Barrett has 25 catches for 495 yards and six touchdowns. This is a rematch of last season’s 3A Final where Scranton Prep came out victorious. Western Wayne is looking to pull off the upset of the two time District Champs.

4A District 2 Semifinals

Nanticoke at Dallas

Fri 7 PM

Nanticoke defeated Crestwood in double overtime to advance to the District Semifinals. Dallas remained unbeaten with a quarterfinal victory over Wallenpaupack. These two teams did not play in the regular season. Trojans running back Zack Fox has 1,727 yards rushing yards with 24 touchdowns. Ryan Wiaterowski has seven rushing touchdowns on the season. Wiaterowski also has an interception return for a touchdown. Defensive back Gavin Turak had three interceptions and returned one for a touchdown. Mountaineers quarterback Brady Zapoticky has thrown for 1,412 yards and 20 touchdowns. Zapoticky also has 10 rushing touchdowns on the season. Running back Dylan Geskey is rushing for 1,075 yards and 17 touchdowns. Geskey has returned an interception for a touchdown this season on defense. Wideout Zach Paczewski has 40 catches for 829 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season. Dallas is looking to remain undefeated and advance to the District Final for the first time since 2020. Nanticoke is looking to pull off an upset of the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 Champions.

Wyoming Area at Valley View

Fri 7 PM

Wyoming Area advanced to the Semifinals with a win over North Pocono. Valley View got to the District Semifinals with a win over Berwick. The two teams did not play each other in the 2023 season. Warriors running back Aaron Crossley has 1,781 yards and 27 touchdowns. Lidge Kellum has 412 yards and four touchdowns. Kellum also has two receiving touchdowns. Josh Mruk has 10 catches for 219 yards and five touchdowns on the season. On defense, Mruk has two interceptions and returned on for a touchdown. Cougars running back Camryn Higgins is rushing for 1,291 yards and 11 touchdowns. Nick Kuharski has 423 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the season. On defense, Kucharski has three interceptions. Receiver Christopher Savkov has 24 catches for 392 yards and three touchdowns. Wyoming Area is looking to get back to the District Final for the first time since 2021. Valley View is looking for their third straight appearance in the District Final.

5A District 2 Final

Abington Heights at Delaware Valley

Fri 7 PM

Abington Heights advanced to the District Final with a win over Scranton. Delaware Valley defeated Pittston Area to make it to the Championship game. Delaware Valley defeated Abington Heights 42-7 in Week 10. Comets quarterback Nick Bradley has thrown for 1,962 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also has four rushing touchdowns. Wide receiver/defensive back Mason Fedor has 58 catches for 862 yards and 11 touchdowns. Fedor also has five interceptions and has returned two for touchdowns. Running back Anthony Curra has rushed for 390 yards and five touchdowns on the season. Warriors running back Ryder Machado rushed for 1,224 yards and 20 touchdowns. On defense, Machado has four interceptions and returned one for a touchdown as a defensive back. Quarterback Logan Olsommer has thrown for 916 yards and eight touchdowns and has eight rushing touchdowns on the year. Wideout Jayden Ramirez has 25 catches for 395 yards and four touchdowns. Delaware Valley enters as the District 2 Champions and looking to win back-to-back 5A titles and their 8th straight District title. Abington Heights is looking to win their first District Championship since 2016.
