In what was thought to be the game of the week, Redbank Valley fell behind Keystone early and then scored six straight first half touchdowns to mercy rule the Panthers 42-7. Redbank appears to be on a mission to get back to the state championship game this year. A couple of other games worth mentioning were Union/AC Valley holding off Brockway 26-20 after leading 20-0 at one point, and Karns City’s triumph over St. Marys 14-6 to knock the Flying Dutchmen from the ranks of the unbeaten. Last year St. Marys gave the Gremlins their only loss in the regular season. Only Central Clarion in Region 1, Redbank in Region 2, and Elk County Catholic in Region 3 remain undefeated four weeks into the 2022 campaign.

Ortz only caught 3 passes but they amounted to 160 yards and 2 of them went for TDs. Kahle snagged 4 throws with 3 going for touchdowns. Manning Splain of Ott-Eldred came up with 125 yards and scored 3 times. Port’s Noah Archer had 122 yards receiving, scoring twice and another time on a run. Bradford’s Lucas Laktash caught 2 touchdown passes and had 112 yards. Ridgway’s Isaiah Jackson pulled down 2 touchdown passes.
Special Teams and Defense – A 72-yard kickoff return was turned in by Jackson Kilpeck of Ridgway. Elk County’s Frankie Smith had a pick 6 and returned a punt 28 yards for a touchdown. Central Clarion’s Wildcats forced Punxsy into 7 turnovers in holding a powerful running attack to a mere 7 points.
Top Games for the Upcoming Week – The big games in D-9 this week are Brookville at DuBois, Punxsy at St. Marys, and Elk County at Otto-Eldred. Elk County defeated Otto earlier this year 35-30 as Otto missed all 5 point after touchdown attempts.
