On Veterans Appreciation Night at Mansell Stadium in DuBois, the Beavers used six touchdown passes and a pair of pick sixes to cruise by the visiting Bradford Owls by a score of 59-20. “We practiced hard all week,” said DuBois head coach TJ Wingard, “we don’t want to take anyone lightly and the kids want to be held accountable if they do or if they don’t practice hard.”
DuBois put up 49 points in the first half but offensively only had the ball five times for a total of four minutes. After Bradford tied the game at seven on a Tommy Langdon touchdown with three minutes left in the first quarter, the Beavers scored the next 42 points. Two interception returns for touchdowns within 26 seconds of each other broke the game open.

The first was Walker Thomas snaring a ball that bounced into the air after Samson Deeb smashed into an Owl receiver just after the ball got there. The result was a 33-yard touchdown jaunt down the sidelines by Thomas with only 15 seconds left in the opening quarter, which gave DuBois a 21-7 advantage.
The second came in the first 11 seconds of the second quarter. London Duncan’s pick near midfield turned into a 52-yard score and began a four touchdown second quarter barrage by the Beavers. “Our defense played better tonight, but I think it started last week in the third quarter against Karns City,” said Beaver head coach TJ Wingard.
Offensively, Trey Wingard completed 8 of 10 passes for 185 yards and five TDs in the first two quarters. He did not play in the second half. Jaxson Hanzely, who at this point is one of the top statistical receivers in Pennsylvania, caught 3 of those aerials for touchdowns. Altogether, Hanzely caught four balls for 135 yards. His brother, Thacher, and Deeb grabbed the other two TD tosses from Wingard.

The other two DuBois scores came in the fourth quarter when Brock Fike turned a short pass from Conner Perkins into a 44-yard touchdown and Maddox Barnes connected on a 29-yard field goal. “A lot of people saw playing time tonight and I was proud of all of them,” stated Wingard.

The Owls got a couple of touchdowns from Langdon. The second TD came with one left in the half when he latched onto an Andrew Giordano pass and raced into the end zone from 9 yards out. The other Bradford score came on Logan Kohler’s 17-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Kohler is an exciting player to watch and runs with reckless abandon, especially on kickoff returns.
DuBois is now 3-1 on the year and are averaging 51 points per game. They will play host to St. Marys next Friday. Bradford falls to 1-3 with the loss and will be home with Brookville next week.
