Easton accomplishes milestones in program history on Thanksgiving morning.
EASTON- Thursday morning at Fisher Stadium on the campus of Lafayette College, the Easton Red Rovers not only, thoroughly defeated arch-rival, Phillipsburg (NJ) Stateliners. In the process of the 35-6 victory became the first team in school history to reach 14 wins in a season and to score over 532 points in a season. The Rovers are the second in the State of Pennsylvania in total wins with 902, and only trail Mount Carmel in wins.
The win came in the 118th meeting between the two schools, who are only separated by the Delaware River. Easton’s season ended with a 14-1 record, with only loss coming last week in the PIAA State 6A playoff to District 12 powerhouse LaSalle College Explorers 49-7 at BASD Stadium in Bethlehem. Phillipsburg, also lost their previous playoff game in the NJSIAA North North Group 4 Semi-final to Ramapo 41-20.
Quarterback Cole Ordway, a Senior playing in his last Thanksgiving Day game, converted a 3rd-and-17 play using his legs, on the games’ opening drive to keep possession for the Rovers. Then he had a 21 yard touchdown run, on a fourth down play to make it 7-0. That score came after an impressive 38 yard touchdown pass, that was nullified by a penalty.
