Cole Orday, Dorian Thomas and Will Day spearheaded ground assault on Liberty to move to 7-1 on the season.

BETHLEHEM- With just a couple of more weeks left in the regular season in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, the Easton Red Rovers are proving to be a formidable force in the Northampton division as they won their seventh straight contest with a dominating performance in a 49-20 win over rival Bethlehem Liberty Hurricanes Friday night at Bethlehem School District stadium before a raucous crowd on a picture-perfect night for football.

Easton opened the game with an impressive first drive as WR Andrew Biddle found himself wide open behind the Hurricanes secondary for a 44 yard touchdown pass from Ordway to get on the scoreboard first 7-0 with 7:16 left in the quarter. The drive covered 90 yards and Noah Boluca added the point after.

Liberty answered right back as Adriaan DeLeon took the ensuing kickoff 83 yards to the promised land to make it 7-6 as the point-after was blocked. Liberty’s only points of the first half.

Dorian Thomas would cash in with just 42 seconds left in the opening quarter from 5 yards out around the right end making it a 14-6 Rover lead. Thomas finished with 127 yards on the night and three touchdowns. The drive covered 83 yards.

After a short Liberty punt, the Rovers were set up in great field position at their own 43 and Thomas would dart his way to the end zone from 31 yards out to make it 21-6 with 8:40 left before intermission.

Liberty would battle back in the second half, as they took possession near their own 20 and that drive culminated in a 28 yard Antonia Fontanez pass to WR Zraire Davis along the home sidelines Christian Hackett connected on the PAT to make it 21-13 with 9:50 left in the third quarter.

This time it was Easton’s turn to return the favor as Cael DiSora deposited the ball in the end zone on a spectacular 86 yard kickoff return to make it 28-13 in favor of Easton.

The big plays continued on the following Hurricanes drive as Gabe Green was on the receiving end of a Fontanez pass that covered 62 yards as Green just stayed in bounds the last 10 yards to make it 28-20 with still over seven minutes left in the quarter.

The Rovers Will Day, who also gained over 90 yards rushing on the night, put his name on the score sheet by sprinting in from 6 yards out making it 35-20 at the 2:15 mark.

In the final quarter Easton would convert two drives into points on the scoreboard first on a 10 yard touchdown pass from Ordway to Mason Stout and then Thomas would get the trifecta from 3 yards out to close out the scoring.

Easton’s head coach Matt Senneca was not happy on how his team gave up two big plays coming out of the break at halftime.

“We got to find a way to not make those kind of mistakes in these last two games that could bite us aqainst our next opponents. We usually have that covered on screen passes like that but we just didn’t make the play and we left them back in the game.” He stated.

Easton now sits at 7-1, and has won seven in row after dropping a decision to Central Bucks West on opening night. The Rovers have a showdown back at BASD Stadium Friday night with unbeaten Bethlehem Freedom. The Patriots moved to 8-0 with a 42-21 win over Northampton Friday. Liberty who losses two in a row after starting 6-0 will try to right the ship as they face the first of the two Christmas City rivals Bethlehem Catholic Saturday night. Becahi is 4-3 and has a Saturday game with Nazareth at BASD Stadium.
