Easton ran their way to 7-0 last night in Northampton
After Easton ran on to the field last night, they never stopped running. Scoring seven rushing touchdowns one by Chris Martinez and six by Cole Ordway on their way to defeating Northampton on their home field, to stay undefeated and kept pace with Parkland, who also won last night 49-0 over Dieruff at JBC Stadium in Allentown. Northampton was able to put 28pts on the board and at times looked like they might be able to comeback for a victory. But the Red Rovers ran for 474yds on the ground last night 332 of which came from Cole Ordway on 24 carries, his six rushing touchdowns which went for 55yards, 23yards, 53yards, 7yards, 35yards and 14yards was one short of the record which is 7 and is held by Shane Simpson who did it in a 2014 63-49 victory over Whitehall.
Northampton had 368 total yards 238 on the ground and Gavin Taff passed for 130yds and two touchdowns and became the all-time leader in passing yardage for the Konkrete Kids. Northampton never trailed by more than two scores for the first three quarters. And closed within 8pts with 1:15 left in the 3rd quarter after Zander Rickert ran in from 4yds out and made it 28-20, but that’s as close as it got for Northampton. Ordway scored three more touchdowns in the 4th quarter and outscored Northampton 20-8 and that made the final score 48-28.
Northampton kicked off to Easton to start the game. And they started 1st and ten at their own 35yd line, Cole Ordway and Chris Martinez shared the carries driving the ball 49yds to the 16yd line where with 9:19 left in the 1st quarter the senior Martinez ran it in for the score and after the extra point Easton jumped out to a 7-0 lead.
Northampton started on their own 20yd line and was unable to get a first down and punted to Easton. Who started 1st and ten from their own 45yd line and Cole Ordway wasted no time and ran 55yds to the house at 7:02 left in the 1st quarter and just that quick Easton led 14-0

Northampton again started on their own 20yd line and had more success this possession. And that started with a pass From Gavin Taff to Cameron Hersch for 8yds to the 28yd line. Next on 2nd and eight Chase Kessler ran for 25yds to the Easton 47yd line. Right back on the ground, Zander Rickert adds 12 more yards to the 35yd line and a first down. Taff found Hersch again for 8yards to the 27yard line for a 2nd and two. Chase Kessler hit it hard for 14 more yards to the 17yd line and that set up a pass on 1st and ten by Gavin Taff to a wide open Jeremiah Strowder for a touchdown at the 5:12 mark in the 1st quarter and that closed the gap to 14-7 Easton led.

Easton started with great field position on their own 45yd line, and were able to drive down the field to the 11yard line of Northampton. But on 4th and four from the 28yard line, Chris Martinez was stopped short of the 1st down at the nine and Northampton took over on downs at their own 9yard line. On 1st and ten Chase Kessler ran for seven yards to the 16yard line.
And that was the end of the 1st quarter with the score 14-7 in favor of Easton
Keegan Hackett added seven more to the 23yard line for a 1st down to start the 2nd quarter, but the drive stalled on 4th and five Northampton punted to Easton who again had great starting field position this time at the 50yard line where they started 1st and ten. Ordway ran for 13yards to the Northampton 37yrd line for a 1st down. Next Cole Ordway to Mason Stout for a 6yard gain to the 31yard line and a few plays later on 2nd and six from the 23yard line Cole Ordway ran for his second touchdown of the game at 7:01 in the 2nd quarter and after the extra point Easton led Northampton 21-7.

Northampton returned the kick to the 27yard line where they started 1st and ten and were unable to get a 1st down and punted to Easton, they started with good field position at their own 40yard line. On 3rd and five on the Easton 45yard line the Rovers were called for a Personal Foul and that backed them up to the 30yard line. But on 3rd and twenty Cole Ordway ran for 37yards to Northampton’s 32yard line. Then more laundry started flying, a holding call and unsportsmanlike call both against Easton took away a 29yard touchdown pass Ordway to Biddle and backed them up from the 29yard line of Northampton to their own 46yard line. More penalties, this time offensive and defensive pass interference on a pass from Ordway to Mason Stout, negated another nice pass play. Northampton started at their own 38yard line but time ran out in the 2nd quarter.
And the halftime score was 21-7 with Northampton getting the ball to start the 2nd half
Northampton started on their own 20yard line and were not having much success on the drive till a late hit on Gavin Taff after a nice run, set up Chase Kessler for a 45yard burst to the endzone at 10:32 in the 3rd quarter and after the extra point the score was 21-14 in favor of Easton

Northampton and their fans had to be feeling good scoring right out of halftime and now was within a touchdown to tie the game. But it only took Cole Ordway and the Easton Red Rovers 53yards and 1:22 to score again at 9:10 in the 3rd quarter and extended their lead to 28-14.
After the kick Northampton started at their own 20 yard line. A heavy dose of Chase Kessler for three plays got them a 1st down at the 30yard line. Next three plays were passes and on 3rd and four Taff’s pass was caught by Zander Rickert for a 1st down at the 40yard line. the drive stalled after that and Northampton punted to Easton and they started 1st and ten at their own 30yard line, but their drive stalled as well and punted back to Northampton. And after a Barkanic return to the 40yard line on 1st and ten Chase Kessler used his speed and ran all the way to Easton’s 13yard line for a 1st down. Zander Rickert got a few tries and then on 4th and one from the 4yardline he punched it in for the score at 1:15 left in the 3rd quarter and after a failed extra point attempt Northampton gets with in eight and the score was 28-20 Easton led.

The 3rd quarter score was 28-20 Easton on top
Martinez and Ordway teamed up on this drive sharing the carries and drove too the 30yard line of Northampton and on 1st and 16 Cole ran to 7yard line for 23yards, that made it 1st and goal from the 7yard line. Ordway faked the hand off to Martinez and took it in himself for his fourth touchdown of the night at 8:38 left in the 4th quarter and that made the score 34-20 after failed extra point attempt and the lead was back to fourteen points.

Northampton started their next drive on their own 25yard line after Barkanics return. But this drive was short lived, because on 3rd and twelve from the 23yard line Gavin Taffs pass was intercepted by Justin Cosover at 7:32 left in the 4th quarter. And that set up Cole Ordway who ran 35yards for a score and put his team up 41-20 after the extra point at 6:45 left in the 4th quarter.

There was no quit in Northampton and on 1st and ten from the 20yard line Gavin Taff showed why he is Northampton’s all-time leader in passing yardage and he connected with Rocco Amato for a touchdown with 5:27 left in the 4th quarter and closed the gap after a successful two-point conversion to 41-28.

Easton and Cole Ordway would score one more touchdown for his sixth rushing touchdown of the night at 2:32 left in the game to put the Red Rovers up for good 48-28 and that was your final score in Northampton.
Easton improved their record to 7-0
Northampton falls to 3-4
Just last week Cole Ordway was recognized for having the career touchdown passes record with 38, the career passing yards record with 3930 and now 6 rushing touchdowns in one game one short of the record. And here is my interview with Cole Ordway after his outstanding performance in his teams big win.
