Eisenhower Knocks Off Iroquois

Russell – Eisenhower scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to pull away from Iroquois 28-14 Thursday night at Riley Memorial Stadium.

Tied at 14 entering the fourth quarter, Shawn Pascuzzi and Tucker Lindell scored on touchdown runs of nine and 13 yards that turned out to be clinching scores.

“Iroquois played a phenomenal game and came out on fire from the start,” said Eisenhower head coach Jim Penley. “I was super proud of how our team dealt with adversity we faced early in the game. These guys secured a win and put the game away in the second half.”

On the second play from scrimmage, the Knight’s recovered fumble – where Logan Penley scored on a 1-yard run. Penley rushed for 77 yards on 16 carries with the score.

The Braves pulled to within 7-6 following a 76-yard touchdown drive where Chrisian Krysiak tossed a 38-yard score to Cole Bennett.

The Knights held the 7-6 advantage at halftime.

Late in the third quarter, Tucker Lindell broke free for a 57-yard touchdown run that gave the Knights a 14-6 lead. Lindell rushed for 99 yards on nine carries.

Iroquois tied the game on their succeeding possession when they drove 68 yards in five plays, scoring on Krysiak’s 5-yard touchdown pass to Micah Pisarski. Krysiak’s 2-point conversion pass to Carmelo Hunter tied the contest at 14.

Krysiak completed 12-of-27 passes for 149 yards with two touchdowns. Cole Bennett caught a game-high six passes for 107 yards with a touchdown.

Eisenhower took the lead for good on big runs by Penley and Lindell that led to Pascuzzi running a 9-yard keeper, putting the Knights in front 21-14.

Pascuzzi completed 5-of-13 passes for 62 yards while rushing for 42 on nine carries.

On their ensuing drive, Caleb Jakubczak’s 19-yard reception put the Knights in close before Lindell capped the scoring for the evening with a 13-yard run.

Eisenhower now improves to 6-3 on the season, with their final regular season game being against Girard next Friday night.

“I’m hoping we’re making positive strides before the playoffs start,” said Jim Penley.

Iroquois drops to 1-8 on the year and will conclude their season next Friday against Saegertown.
