The Elk County Catholic Crusader football program is ending, at least for the 2024 season and possibly beyond, due to a lack of players. “It’s a sad day, but we couldn’t get enough kids,” said ECC head coach Tim Pearson. St. Marys High School hosted an informative meeting earlier this evening. This was after a decision was made to create the football co-op with Elk County Catholic. For several years the Crusader football program has had low numbers. In fact, they opted out of the playoffs a couple of years ago due to some injuries that left them short players for the post season.
According to sources, the co-op may move St. Marys will remain in 3A.
