Raptors Snap Three Game Skid on Senior Night With a Shutout Win

ALLENTOWN- Murphy’s Law basically states what can go wrong will go wrong. For the Belmont Charter Tigers on Saturday night, nothing seemed to go right as the Executive Education Charter Raptors snapped a three game losing streak with a 28-0 win before a sparse crowd at Scotty Wood Stadium on the Muhlenberg College campus Saturday night.

The Raptors forced four first quarter turnovers by the Tigers and converted one of those into a touchdown, when DB Kristopher Kruz stepped in front of a short out pass and sprinted 60 yards for a touchdown with 1:39 left in the quarter for a 6-0 lead. The point after failed.

Both teams had issues holding onto the ball as Executive Education also had a couple of turnovers in the opening half. The Raptor defense played outstanding in not allowing a score all night.

With 4:37 left until halftime, the Rapotors capped off a 63 yard drive when QB Darmel Lopez just barely got the ball across the plane of the goal line from a yard out. The Raptors converted the two-point conversion to take a 14-0 lead into halftime.

Neither team could crack the end zone in the third quarter, but the Tigers were backed up deep in their end of the field when the final quarter began. On the first play of the final twelve minutes and forced to punt out of end zone, a strong push by the Raptors allowed the kick to be blocked and LB Cavin King pounced on the loose ball to make the score 22 -0 again they converted the fake FG and converted the two points.

The Raptors would add another score for good measure with 5:06 left in the contest as Anthony Roman took a shovel pass from Lopez and weaved his way through the secondary en route to a 33 yard score. This time the PAT was wide right leaving the score at 28-0.

Executive(4-3) started the season 3-0, but then losses to Upper Moreland, Tri-Valley and a 65-12 debacle to State Runner Up Jersey Shore put them at .500. They will be at Lower Moreland(4-4) next week before closing out the regular season at Line Mountain. Lower Moreland defeated The George School 21-13 Saturday.

Belmont Charter(6-2) will be on the road at Kipp-DuBoise(0-7). The Lions were mercy-ruled by George Washington 62-8 Friday night.

Larry Ford, Head coach at Executive Education had this to say about the win and what’s lies ahead for his Raptors.
