Five WPIAL players and coach named to PA Sportswriters Class 3A All-State Team

Quinton Martin, Rico Steele, Andrew Kuban, Braden Laux, Adam LaCarte were the WPIAL players named to the PA Sportswriters Class 3A All-State Team.

Head Coach Matt Humbert for the second straight year was named 3A Coach of the Year. Humbert led the Leopards to a 13-1 season this year and 12-2 last season. 

Belle Vernon, the back-to-back 3A WPIAL and PIAA State Champions have three of the five players on this list. 

Martin, a RB/DB for the Leopards, this season the five star athlete caught 753 yards and rushed for 1,200+ yards and 28 TDs. In the past two seasons Martin has 3,600+ total yards and 58+ TDs. Martin is ranked the number one player in the state and has signed and will play for Penn State next season. 

LaCarte as well as Martin are repeat players to the All-State team. LaCarte had 74 tackles, three interceptions and two fumbles. He also caught seven passes for 60+ yards and a TD. 

Laux is committed to play TE at Eastern Michigan, playing at QB/DE.  Laux had 48 tackles, four sacks as a DE. 

Steele, an O-Lineman for West Mifflin was named Offensive Lineman of the Year in the Western Hills Conference. Steele recently signed his letter of intent to play football at Bowling Green. 

Kuban, an athlete from Avonworth and the Western Hills offensive MVP, had 58 receptions for 895 yards, 660+ receiving yards and 18+ total TDs.
