Kyle McCord has been a name around the PA/Philadelphia area for a while dating back to his time at St. Joseph’s Prep. He was drafted in the sixth round at pick 181 by the Philadelphia Eagles. McCord played with Eagles Jeremiah Trotter Jr when they were both at the Prep. When playing for the Hawks, McCord threw for 6,887 passing yards and 88 touchdown passes and was named the Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year his senior year. After committing to Ohio State in 2019, McCord transferred to Syracuse for his senior season in the spring of 2024, and despite only playing one year for the Orange he finished in numerous top-10 career lists.
“I really had no idea who it was going to be and then I got the call from the 215 number and it was just a surreal moment,” said McCord. “You know you always dream of being a quarterback on the Eagles, but obviously, you know any team could have come and got me at that point.” (Via. Eagles Press Conferences)
He will enter a Quarterback room that holds Jalen Hurts, Tanner Mckee and Dorian Thompson-Robinson. He will also be working with new Eagles quarterbacks coach Scot Loeffler. Unlike some of the guys taken before him, McCord’s role will not be to start on day one, obviously as he’s behind the defending Super Bowl champion quarterback. The key for him will be to work and develop behind his predecessor’s.
