Marvin Harrison Jr an 6-4 212 WR who starred at St Joes Prep helping the Hawks win the 2019 PIAA 6A state championship before heading to Ohio State where he’d leave with numerous accolades and awards tonight received the call of his young life when Arizona Cardinals ownership and coaching staff called to alert him, he was their 2024 1st round selection 4th overall. Marvin holds the Philadelphia Catholic League records in receiving yards with 2,625 and 37 receiving touchdowns. As a senior he helped SJP avoid an upset loss in the state semifinals against Central Catholic by catching a touchdown to force overtime. The next weekend in the state championship game he would record 156 receiving yards & he helped lead the Prep to 3 consecutive state championships from 2018-2020 before enrolling early in January 2021 at Ohio State University.

As a freshman playing behind veteran all conference receivers and future 1st round picks (Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave & Jaxon Smith-Njigba) he played sparingly in the regular season but came up big in the Rose Bowl with 6 receptions for 71 yards and 3 touchdowns. He would go on to have a breakout sophomore season putting scouts and the nation on notice as he caught 77 passes for 1236 yards & 14 TDs for the Buckeyes. He’d follow that up with yet another sensational season as a junior nabbing 67 receptions for 1211 yards & 14 receiving touchdowns while adding a rushing score as well.

The son of an NFL Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison Sr he has already experienced a taste of the NFL life being able to experience the games at a young age following his father during training camp and watching upfront how hard his father worked on and off the field. Preparing for the NFL Draft most analysts projected him as the top-rated receiver of this draft class. Thursday night a young man’s childhood dream came to reality when the Arizona Cardinals choose him 4th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. He instantly goes to Arizona as their top pass receiver and will be a top target for quarterback Kylar Murray. After a great junior season in which he won the Biletnikoff Award as the top wide receiver in the nation, he will enter the NFL with the goal of matching the production of his father who amassed 14580 yards & 128 TDs in his 13-season career with the Indianapolis Colts along with winning a Super Bowl.

For the 2024 season the St. Joe’s Prep Hawks will have at least 4 alumni playing in the NFL as they currently have OL Jon Runyan Jr. who recently signed as a free agent with the New York Giants, RB De’Andre Swift who recently signed with the Chicago Bears, Marvin Harrison Jr. who will suit up for the Arizona Cardinals and WR Olamide Zaccheaus who just signed with the Washington Commanders. It’s widely expected that Clemson LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr will also be selected this weekend in the NFL draft between rounds 2-4.
