Deante Crawford Rushes fir Nearly 200 Yards and Three Touchdowns to Overwhelm Red Rovers for Second Time.

BETHLEHEM- Much like their meeting back in September, when the Freedom Patriots jumped out to a 31-3 lead by half and cruised to a 31-17 win. Friday night’s PIAA District XI quaterfinal contest at BASD STadium had much of the same feel as the Patriots too advantage of some early mistakes by the Red Rovers en route to a 44-14 annihilation in front of a moderate crowd on a crisp late fall evening.

The scoring barrage began when the Rovers were forced to punt out of their own end zone and the kick went out of bounds at Easton 21. Deante Crawford carried the ball all five time including a one yard run to make it 7-0 with 5:40 left in the opening quarter.

The Next time Freedom had the ball, quarterback Brian Taylor connected up with WR Owen Johnson, who got behind the defense on a post pattern and was able to cross the goal line with a defender on his back to make it 14-0 with 1:27 still left in the first quarter.

The Patriots were threatening again at the beginning of the second quarter as they had the ball at the Easton five yard line, but had to settle for a 22 yard field by Zeyad Ragab to make it 17-0 just twelve seconds into the quarter.

After Freedom had to punt on their opening drive of the contest they would score and five straight drives following to basically put the game out of reach.

Ethan Neidig was on the receiving end of a 22 yard scoring pass from Taylor with 8:20 still reamining in the half to make it 24-0 as he beat the safety to the post and Ragab connected on the PAT.

Deante Crawford, who finished the night with 193 yards on 17 touches, had a nifty fifteen yard run with just under five minutes left till half increasing the lead to 30-0 with the PAT being blocked.

Easton did manage to avoid being shutout in the half as a nice Rover drive culminated in a 36 yard touchdown pass from Cole Transue to J’vier Johnson with just a 1:15 left before intermission making the score 30-7 as both teams entered the locker room.

The second half started out pretty much like the first as Crawford galloped into the end zone from 61 yards out less than a minute into the quarter to extend the lead to 37-7 but that would be all the scoring either team could muster heading into the final twelve minutes.

Transue, found a little rhythm, but it was much too late to make a serious threat to the deficit, but a nice 23 yard touchdown pass to JuJu Fears got the Rovers to 37-14 with 9:30 left in the contest. He finished the night 21 of 38 for 187 yards and two touchdowns

Taylor capped off the scoring for either team with a two yard score with 6:15. He completed just four of ten passes for 97 yards and the two scores.

“I expected us to come out and play well tonight. We are getting better up front, we created somenice holes for Deante to run through. I thought we did some really good thing offensively tonight.” Coach Jason Roeder stated afterwards.

The Patriots, winners of seven games in a row, will advance next week to face a unbeaten Northampton team on the road, as the Konkrete Kids who got by a game Pleasant Valley squad 21-7.
