Garden Spot dominates Elizabethtown in a 66-21 statement win

            Garden Spot came out on top Friday night and dominated Elizabethtown all night for a 66-21 victory. Garden Spot improved to 7-2 on the year, while the loss dropped Elizabethtown to 7-2 as well. Garden Spot dominated from the 1st play of the game and never let up on Elizabethtown. Elizabethtown had no answer for Garden Spot all night. Garden Spot Head Coach on the victory Matt Zamperini “A statement win. Biggest win we had in a long time here”. 

            Garden Spot opened the game with fireworks when Jadon Burkholder took the 1st play from scrimmage and rushed for a 70-yard touchdown. Then after Elizabethtown was stopped on their 1st drive of the game, Garden Spot again took the 1st play from scrimmage and scored. This time QB Kye Harting took it 57 yards for touchdowns. 2 plays and 2 touchdowns for Garden Spot. Harting rushed it again from 15 yards outs for another touchdown and early in the game Garden Spot was up 21-0. Harting had this to say “First two plays we scored and we were so excited to start the game”. 

          Garden Spot continued the dominance when Harting hit Zach Nagle for a 27-yard touchdown pass. Josh Rudy of Elizabethtown scored a rushing touchdown to cut the lead to 28-7, but Garden Spot responded again when Burkholder rushed in for another touchdown to make it 35-14 Garden Spot. Elizabethtown responded again with a drive when Cade Capello rushed it in from 5 yards out to climb back to a 2-touchdown lead for Garden Spot. Garden Spot fumbled the following kickoff and it seemed like Elizabethtown had life, but then the play of the game happened. Rudy of Elizabethtown dropped back to pass and had pressure in his face he was intercepted by Blake Weaver of Garden Spot and he returned it for a touchdown. Garden Spot 42-14 Elizabethtown at the Half.  

       Garden Spot continued the dominance in the 2nd half with a field goal and a touchdown pass from Harting to Burkholder. Burkholder had 2 rushing touchdowns and 1 receiving touchdown on the night. Harting had 3 rushing touchdowns and 2 passing touchdowns in the victory.  Harting said “Teams give me the run read so when it was there I take it”. Coach Zamperini said this about his Quaterback “Kye is the kind of kid everyone should get to know. One of the best kids I ever been around”. 

            Garden Spot came into the night 9th in the district playoff race. With this win they should move up even higher and they have a huge game next week when they visit Solanco. If they win that game they will be Co-Section 3 Lancaster-Lebanon League Champs. Also whoever wins that game will have a huge chance to clinch a higher District 3 playoff seed.
