For the first time since 2019, the Greater Johnstown Trojans have won a football game. This win, snapping a 43 game losing streak, came against Central Cambria with a final score of 47-36. Sophomore quarterback Julius Reed led the Trojans to this win, accounting for seven total touchdowns and 223 passing yards.
Five of his touchdowns came through the air to four different players. Gerald Veney Jr caught two touchdowns and Raheem Braswell, Daniel Porter, and Zymir Reed each hauled in one touchdown. Julius Reed ran for another two touchdowns and 133 rushing yards. Braswell also ran for 106 yards.
The last time Johnstown won a football game was against Somerset on October 18th, 2019. This win is very good for their program as they have many talented athletes, but have not been able to put it all together in recent years.
Next Saturday, Johnstown will go for their first multi-win season since 2017, where they went 8-4. The Trojans will travel to Westmont-Hilltop, who is 0-4.
