GROVE CITY, PA – Grove City claimed the 40th Mercer County Cup in a contest that was never close Saturday afternoon.
Following a 27-19 upset loss at Washington & Jefferson last week, the Grove City Wolverines looked to respond in a big way against a struggling Tomcats squad.

Following a Thiel punt, Logan Pfeuffer connected deep with Scott Fraser for a 46-yard score, putting the Wolverines up 14-0.
Heading to the second quarter, Nico Flati capped off a 15 play, 81-yard drive with a 5-yard rushing score. Less than two minutes later, Ian Demeri would join the party with a 4-yard rushing touchdown of his own. The next two drives for the Wolverines took a combined 12 seconds, resulting in two touchdowns from Pfeuffer to Fraser for 5-yards and 40-yards respectively. Daniel Sullivan would end the half with a 26-yard receiving score, putting Grove City up 49-0 heading into the locker rooms.
Thiel would produce their best drive of the day, a 15 play 75-yard drive ending in a 1-yard rushing score from Deon Logan. With the starters out of the game for Grove City, Ethan Wiley found Seth McGroerty deep down the sidelines for an 82-yard touchdown. Devon Thomas’ 31-yard field goal would be the final scoring play of the contest, with the Wolverines victorious 59-7.
Scott Fraser led the Wolverines with 8 receptions for 128 yards and 3 touchdowns. Logan Pfeuffer went 13-19 for 211 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions in the first half.
