HARRISBURG – With just under a minute left in the first half, the Cedar Cliff Colts were staring at a 4th and goal attempt from the 7 yard line trailing 14-0. On that play, quarterback Jalen Hinton dropped back and fired a pass over the middle that went off the hands of Blake Secrest and fell to the ground. That play ended up being the turning point of this game as in the second half, the Colts never even came close to to scoring again, which helped the Harrisburg Cougars power their way to a 42-0 victory.
The first action of the game actually came from Cedar Cliff, knocking the ball out of Harrisburg’s running back Princeton Dent hands near midfield on their opening possession. This play gave the Colts an opportunity to strike early, however after driving down to the Cougars 9 yard line, the drive stalled, and Wyatt Easton’s 26 yard field goal attempt sailed wide to the right.
Harrisburg didn’t get their first action of the game until the second quarter, where on the first play of the quarter, Jalen Hinton’s pass intended for Amarion Autry sailed a little too high and right into the arms of Issac John Lewis. The Cougars were able to take advantage of this just 5 plays later on an 18 yard touchdown carry by Princeton Dent.

The very next drive for Cedar Cliff was even more disaster as Hinton was strip sacked near midfield, setting the Cougars right back up in plus territory. Harrisburg only needed 2 more plays to find the end zone, scoring on a 33 yard strike from quarterback Mikal Shank Jr to Issac John Lewis, increasing their lead to 14-0 with 3:56 left until halftime.
After exchanging quick punts, the Colts took over on offense again with under 2 minutes left and began to drive, making their way inside the red zone, which brings us to the moment that was mentioned earlier. On a 4th and goal from the 2 yard line, Cedar Cliff committed a false start penalty, which backed them up to the 7 yard line. This penalty ultimately forced the Colts to pass on 4th and goal and the pass fell incomplete, which kept Cedar Cliff off the scoreboard going into halftime.

Harrisburg ended up taking that momentum from the end of the first half and ran with it in the second half without looking back. The Cougars opening drive in the third quarter took up about 3 and a half minutes of game time and ended with an 11 yard strike to Jaiyon Lewis on 3rd and goal.

The Cougars defense stepped up in a big way in the second half forcing back to back three and outs for the Colts offense which led to 2 more scores for the Harrisburg offense. The first one being a 20 yard strike to Elias Coke once again on a third and long, and the second one being a 16 yard carry from Princeton Dent. That score was followed up a Jaiyon Lewis running it into the end zone for the two point conversion, putting Harrisburg ahead 35-0 which sent the fourth quarter into a mercy rule.

The fourth quarter was able to give us one more touchdown. Well after all the starters were pulled, backup quarterback Damir Arp was able to find Nuhme Collier from 41 yards out, increasing the lead to 42-0 and putting the final nail in the coffin on a dominant victory for Harrisburg.
