I made it to three of the six Heritage Conference Football Games last night. Indiana County has six teams and usually three are playing at home. Seven weeks into the season and you can pretty much predict the outcomes.  The next three weeks have some big matchups coming up. I started in Kenmore where I covered a Powder Puff game earlier in the day. Four hours later it was game time. I did this last year going to MC, PL & PM. It is nice to do once a year but I will probably only cover one game the rest of the way. A recap of my night!

Dumm eclipses the Comets!

NC Colts 28 PM Comets 0

In a battle of two one loss teams, the visiting Northern Cambria Colts shut out the Penns Manor Comets. The Comets came into the game riding a big emotional win last week against Conemaugh Township. They scored two TDs in the final four minutes . The second after recovering an onside kick. The Comets had trouble scoring last year because they were unable to pass the ball. This year they have really worked on their passing game. Last night their offense was unable to do anything against a very speedy Colts defense. The teams exchanged punts to start the game and then the Colts scored three straight touchdowns. Colts quarterback Ty Dumm was involved in all three. Dumm ran 71 yards for the Colts first touchdown & then threw a 97 yard TD pass to make in 14-0.

Dumm would score again from six yards out and it was 21-0. Three TDs in four possessions and the Comets only had two first downs it was time to head down the road.

Stingers rebound behind Troy Slovinsky!

Marion Center Stingers 41 Purchase Line Red Dragons 0

In a battle of two teams going in different directions. The Stingers rebounded from a bad loss last week to the Colts. They have a big game coming up next week against River Valley. That will be my game of the week. I watched Troy Slovinsky play junior high football three times last year and he ran the other kids over. But now he is only a freshmen against bigger kids. It didn’t matter last night, he was running over Dragons. The Stingers defense has been great all year but they have had trouble scoring. In the first half their defense took the ball away and their offense cashed it in. Slovinsky had three touchdowns including a 95 yard punt return. I arrived just as the second quarter was ending. It was PL homecoming, not the outcome they wanted. It was 34-0.

MC got the ball first in the second half and Slovinsky scored on a long run around the left side and the mercy rule was on. The Stingers defense stopped the Red Dragons and they started to substitute the underclassmen. I’m off again.

Wildcats use 22 point fourth quarter to pull away from Wolves!

West Shamokin Wolves 21 Homer Center Wildcats 42

This was a 3 hour game which enabled me to watch the entire fourth quarter. Wildcat Braden Dunn scored two touchdowns in the quarter, a long TD reception and a long TD run. HC took the lead eight seconds into the quarter on Dunn’s reception. The big play of the game however was a 45 yard Brady Frazer punt that pinned the Wolves on their two. The defense scored on the next play!

Frazer then have a touchback on the kickoff. The Wolves had poor field position again. They punted and Dunn scored again to cap the scoring!
