ROUNDTRIP – 520 MILES

Thursday, October 30

My best advice for choosing which games across the state to attend the first week of the playoffs is to find contests that were competitive between the teams in the regular season.  This strategy brought me to Downingtown East where the Cougars were hosting the Spring-Ford Rams in a District 1 rematch of a regular season clash that D-East won 21-17.

The game got off to a quick start as Spring-Ford scored on their first play of the game and it looked all night like the visiting Rams would get their revenge against the Cougars.  Spring-Ford even held a 16-7 lead with just eight minutes remaining in the game but the host Cougars defended their turf and tallied twice in the final three minutes to steal at 20-16 victory including the game-winner with just six seconds remaining.

Check out the highlights from the thriller between D-Town East and Spring-Ford…

Following my first round playoff strategy for choosing games to attend I ventured to Riverside (Taylor, PA) for their game against Dunmore…a rematch of the 17-14 OT contest won by Riverside in the regular season.  On this blustery Halloween night the visiting Dunmore Bucks had both tricks and treats to enact revenge against their District 2 foes scoring a 27-7 victory.

Here’s a few highlights from Dunmore’s big win at Riverside…

Saturday, November 1

The Game of the Week in Pennsylvania was on tap for Saturday afternoon at Villanova University as state stalwarts 6A #4 St. Joe’s Prep and 6A #2 LaSalle clashed for the second time this season.  The regular season face off resulted in a 31-20 LaSalle victory and the Explorers were up to the task again in the playoff showdown scoring a solid 24-14 win against their rivals from St. Joe’s Prep!

The win for LaSalle eliminated St. Joe’s Prep from a shot at their 8th state title in the past 10 years and ensured a new 6A state champ would be crowned at Cumberland Valley for the first time since 2021.  St. Joe’s Prep had appeared in nine consecutive 6A state finals dating back to 2016.

Here’s some highlights from LaSalle”s historic victory against St. Joe’s Prep…

My Saturday nighcap and game #4 on the weekend featured a District 11 battle between 2A #8 state-ranked Minersville and visiting Pen Argyl.  In the past few years, Minersville has quickly become a favorite of mine to watch play for a few reasons…Miners’ QB Dante Carr is phenomenal, the team scores in bunches and the concession stand at Minersville is #1 in the entire state!

All three of these factors were in play on this night as University of South Florida-bound Dante Carr put together a highlight-reel effort in an entertaining 35-27 Miners victory and my pre-game homemade chili from the concession stand was second to none!

Take a spin through some outstanding Dante Carr highlights on this night!

That’s it for the PA Football Regular season and we’re headed to the playoffs!
