ROUNDTRIP – 424 MILES

Thursday, October 16

A crisp and windy night at Whitehall High School greeted me this week as the undefeated and 5th ranked 6A Parkland Trojans visited the host Zephyrs that came into the contest with a respectable 7-1 record on the season.  I saw Parkland dismantle Nazareth earlier in the season by a wide margin and was interested to see if the Trojans could put together another stellar performance against a respectable Whitehall program.

Parkland was every bit as impressive this time around as they struck early and often en route to a 53-7 victory to spoil Whitehall’s Senior Night festivities.  Running Back TJ Lawrence was the engine in the Trojans offense once again tallying four scores on the night with 134 yards rushing.

Check out some highlights from Parkland’s impressive win vs. Whitehall…

One nugget from Whitehall that is unique to their school and football program is a trio of former players who have all played in the Super Bowl.  Former Zephyrs Matt Millen, Dan Koppen and Saquon Barkley have combined for an impressive 7 Super Bowl rings!

Here’s a nice display at Whitehall High School honoring their three retired jerseys and their Super Bowl accomplishments!

Friday, October 17

The middle game of my three-game week featured undefeated and super-athletic 4A 5th ranked Susquehanna Township hosting the 3A Trinity Shamrocks in District 3 action.  Susquehanna Township has their sights set on a District title and potential State championship run this season and a run at a potential State Championship.  On this night, despite the best efforts by Trinity who rallied late in this contest Susquehanna Township held on for 24-14 victory on Senior Night.

Here’s some highlights from the Susquehanna Township vs. Trinity game…

Saturday, October 18

The final chapter of my football week took me to Harrisburg where the undefeated and 6A #1 ranked Cougars hosted District 3 foe Central Dauphin to Severance Field.  Harrisburg year in and year out has a talent-laden roster and this year is no different as Division 1 prospects don the Cougar uniform this season including Rutgers-commit Elias Coke and Penn State commits Kevin Brown and Messiah Mickens.

The Cougars put their talents on display on this day en route to a solid 27-0 victory over the Rams of Central Dauphin before a raucous Homecoming crowd.  Check out some highlights from the Harrisburg win vs. Central Dauphin…

Some bonus coverage from my Saturday game…

Few high schools can match the passion the Harrisburg players, fans, band and cheerleaders bring to every contest.  Check out a couple videos of the Cougars top-notch energy this week!

We’re more than halfway through the 2025 season as I wrapped up my 9th of 16 weeks and headed home to plan for next weeks schedule of contests.

Follow along next week as Travelin’ Matt takes you across the state on another PA High School Football journey.
