A Recap of Week Seven and A Look Ahead to Week Eight in the Colonial League.

We come to the top of the stretch of the high school football season. Some fighting and clawing their way to a playoff spot, others jockeying for prime position in the post-season and others playing out the string in preparation for the off-season. Before we can look ahead, we must take look back to this past weekend.

In what was, on paper, to be a classic match-up between perennial District XI 3A powers the Spartans of North Schuylkill and the Notre Dame Green Pond Crusaders proved to be a one-sided affair as the Spartans ran wild to a 42-21 win Friday night. Both teams came in unbeaten with 6-0 and 5-0 records respectively. Notre Dame led by quarterback Colin Quintano, averaging 325 yards passing per game was held to just 142 yards on 28 attempts by a Spartans defense that recovered thee turnovers in the contest. Josh Chowansky paved the way for North Schuylkill on offense gaining 160 yards and two scores on 28 carries. These two teams could very well meat again in the playoffs, as both teams should be favored to win out their remaining three games.
