Hollywood’s Cutting Room Floor- EPC Edition Week #2

A Review of this past weekend’s action in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference and a look to what is happening this upcoming this weekend.

Well it looks like Nazareth, Parkland, Allentown Central Catholic, Bethlehem Catholic and Bethlehem Liberty are setting themselves apart in the South Division as they all improved to 2-0 on the season. The North has several teams at 1-1 including Northampton, Pleasant Valley, Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg South.

Impressive wins by Nazareth in a mercy rule win over Emmaus and Parkland shutout of Freedom and Bethlehem Catholic a resounding win over Whitehall set the tone for last week. The next few weeks will tell a lot as some of these teams will be competing against each other as we get closer to the midway point of the regular season.

The Lowdown Week 3

1-1 East Stroudsburg South at 1-1 Pleasant Valley Thursday 7PM

Pleasant Valley defeated Dieruff 41-14 and East Stroudsburg South took down William Allen 47-6. Alex Ecker rushed for 302 yards for PV and 4 touchdowns on 25 carries. 3 of those scores were over 40 yards. QB Ivan Laubach of ESS tossed 3 first half score against Allen to open up a 40-6 lead. Nate Gray had a 68 yard run and a 73 yard pass receptions for scores in the contest.

1-1 Stroudsburg at 1-1 Northampton Thursday 7PM

Stroudsburg topped Pocono Mtn West 37-21 and Northampton shutout Pocono Mtn East 51-0

Four different players scored for the Mounties: Will Francis found the end zone twice, Ben Pilcher, Kamari Coleman and Kevin Polonia also contributed a score each. AJ Slivka scored four times for the Konkrete Kids as they racked up over 370 total yards. Tristen Pinnock had 53 yards receiving on just 5 catches and RB Caden Henritzy gained nearly a hundred yards on 10 touches.

1-1 Emmaus at 2-0 Allentown Central Catholic Friday 7:30PM

Emmaus lost to Nazareth 42-7 and Central Catholic defeated Easton 37-20. Antonio Fontanez threw for 234 yards on 15 of 24 passing and three scores. The Green Hornets hurt themselves in the passing game by only completing 5 passes in the loss.

0-2 William Allen at 0-2 East Stroudsburg North Friday 7PM

Allen lost to East Stroudsburg South 47-6 East Stroudsburg North was KO’ed by Liberty 46-13

The only score for the Canaries on Friday was by Lawson Vazquez. The Timberwolves were led by Wayne King who threw for 25 yards and ran for 70 against the Hurricanes.

0-2 Louis Dieruff at 0-2 Pocono Mtn West Friday 7PM

Dieruff dropped a 41-14 decision to Pleasant Valley and PMW lost to Stroudsburg 33-21

The Huskies defense allowed the Bears to gain nearly 400 rushing yards last week. Jordey Guzman led the offense throwing for two scores to Luis Martinez. West has a seven game win streak going over Dieruff.

1-1 Easton at 1-1 Whitehall Friday 7PM

Easton was beaten by Allentown CC 37-20 and Whitehall was dumped by Bethlehem Catholic 34-21

The Red Rovers were led by Jasir Frutchey and Jordan Alston who combined for 125 yards receiving. Frutchey had three catches and two of those went for scores. Trey Dogmanits was harassed by the Golden Hawk defense last week in throwing three interceptions but he also threw for three touchdowns as well.

2-0 Parkland at 2-0 Bethlehem Liberty BASD Stadium Friday 7PM

Parkland shut down Freedom 35-0 and Liberty defeated East Stroudsburg North 46-13.

QB Luke Spang of Parkland threw for nearly 215 yards and ran for another 205 and scored 4 times. Connor Johns had 5 receptions for 70 yards. Liberty is 2-0 but with wins over Dieruff and ESN are good but now they will be facing their toughest test Friday night.

1-1 Bethlehem Freedom at 2-0 Nazareth Friday 7PM.

Freedom was shut out by Parkland 35-5 and Nazareth dominated Emmaus on the road 42-7.

Freedom is a young team and were limited to just 120 yards of offense against the Trojans last week. Nazareth seems to be clicking on all cylinders as they rolled over the Green Hornets. Sophomore QB Nathan Falzone had a big game last week and will look to continue that trend as they get set to face Parkland next week.

0-2 Pocono Mtn East at 2-0 Bethlehem Catholic Saturday 3PM

Becahi dropped Whitehall 34-21 and PME were dismantled by Northampton 51-0

The Golden Hawks were led by QB Cayden Vassa last week in the impressive win over the Zephyrs. Vassa threw for 145 yards and three scores all to his brother Carter Vassa. Jacob Sutton had an 80 yard TD run on the opening play from scrimmage. PME ran for almost a hundred yards against Northampton. The defense gave up 270 yards to the K-Kids.
