The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes continue to dominate as they beat the Palisades Pirates 14-7. Aiden Myers had both touchdowns for the Hurricanes. Riley Sessinger had the lone score for the Pirates.
All of the scoring in this contest happened in the first quarter. Colton Reber got the Hurricane offense started with a 44-yard run. Myers finished off the drive with a score from 5 yards out. The Hurricanes then converted on 4th and 1, with Myers scoring again from 54 yards. Before the first quarter ended, Riley Sessinger had an 85-yard kick return for a Pirate touchdown. The second and third quarters of the game consisted of back-and-forth penalties and not much offensive action. The Pirates were able to tally up three sacks, with Silas Day and Gavin Lee getting into the backfield. The fourth quarter had fans on the edge of their seats. The Hurricanes had a costly fumble that was recovered by the Pirates. With good field position, Palisades looked to make one final effort to force this game into overtime. The Hurricane defense was able to hold them off, Chase Williams with a huge tackle. With three seconds remaining, Jack Trickel found the back of the endzone, but the ball was caught out of bounds. The Hurricanes survived and improved to 4-1 on the season.
Coach Mike Farr and his now #1 ranked Hurricanes will take on Catasauqua. Bobby Smith and his Pirates will take on Panther Valley.
