The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes dominated the Nativity Green Wave with a 40-6 victory. Hurricane running back Niko Carestia led his team with three touchdowns, followed by Aiden Myers with two. Samuel Spolski scored Nativity’s lone touchdown.

The scoring action in this matchup didn’t begin until the second quarter. The Hurricanes used the first to gain good field position, leading to Aiden Myers scoring a 9-yard touchdown in the beginning of the second. The extra point by freshman Grayson Fessler was good. The Hurricane defense was just as impactful, with Niko Castillo sacking Green Wave quarterback Ben Kreitzer. Nativity showed a burst of energy with a sack of their own, but couldn’t convert on offense. The score at halftime was 7-0, Hurricanes.

Schuylkill Haven took over in the second half. Carestia started his scoring with a 52-yard run to the endzone. Green Wave did answer back with a 43-yard touchdown from Spolski. The extra point was blocked and the Hurricanes got right back to work. Freshman Chase Leibensperger was moved to the tight end position, making some key blocks, one allowing Carestia to score again from 16 yards out. Travis Richie then intercepted a pass from Kreitzer, giving Haven possession once again as they looked to add to their lead of 20-6.

The Hurricanes extended their lead with three touchdowns in the final quarter of play. Myers had a 35-yard touchdown, Carestia had a 1-yard rush into the endzone, and freshman Colton Reber ran 30 yards for a score. The final of this District XI contest was a strong Hurricane win, 40-6.

Head Coach Mike Farr and his Hurricanes will take on the Williams Valley Vikings at Rotary Field. Nativity Green Wave Head Coach Patrick Mason and his team will take on Kutztown. Both games are on Friday, September 8th at 7 p.m.
