Central Valley was no match for Imani Christian who used their run game and defense to completely dominate in their 48-0 win over Central Valley.

Imani Christian got the ball to start the game and wasted no time setting the tone for the game. The kickoff was returned to the Central Valley 40 yard line. On the first play Gabe Jenkins scored on a 40 yard touchdown run. “Yeah I mean, Gabe just looked me in the eye and told me he had me” said Coach Johnson. “Man it was easy, man it was just like, I’ve seen the hole and just hit it, so it was just like they couldn’t stop me” said Jenkins.

Jenkins was one of the key players in the win for Imani Christian. He ran for 160 yards on 15 carries.

Central Valley started their first drive on their own 35 yard line. After a penalty and a few good runs they were in Imani Christian territory. But after that the drive stalled and Central Valley turned the ball over on downs.

Imani Christian started their second drive on their own 6 yard line. On the third play of the drive David Davis was off to the races and scored on a 75 yard run. That made the score 14-o Imani Christian with 7:47 in the first quarter.

Central Valley started their second drive on their own 34 yard line and on the fourth play of the drive the ball was fumbled and recovered by Imani Christian and returned for a 40 yard touchdown. That made the score 22-o Imani Christian with 7:09 in the first quarter. That was also the score at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter Imani Christian wasted very little time extending their lead once again. David Davis had a second big touchdown run this one being an 83 yard touchdown run.

Davis was the second key player in the win for Imani Christian. He had  243 yards on 6 carries. “Dave is phenomenal, he was there when we first built this program and only had 7 people there and you know I’m just incredibly proud of him, I mean it’s his time, it’s his senior year, it’s just that magical run” said Coach Johnson.

Later in the second quarter Central Valley had their opportunities to score and get back into the game. One drive started at their own 36 yard line and once they got inside the Imani Christian 10 yard line after that Imani Christian made a goal line stand  and Central Valley turned the ball over on downs.

After the goal line stand, Imani Christian went three and out and punted the ball away. Central Valley got the ball at the Imani Christian 21 yard line thanks to a good punt return. On the third play of the drive the ball was intercepted in the end zone.

Before the first half ended Imani Christian put the mercy rule into effect. David Davis scored for a third time on a 73 yard touchdown run. That made the score 36-0 Imani Christian at halftime. “I couldn’t get those runs without my offensive line, the line up front, they dominated, do their job and move people, and they did it, that’s what got me those three touchdowns” said Davis.

Central Valley got the ball to start the second half and on the very first play the ball was fumbled and recovered by Imani Christian and returned for a 40 yard touchdown. “They were playing lights out, I tell them all the time, there’s about seven division one players on defense and you know we just gotta go out there and prove it every day” said Coach Johnson. That fumble return made it 42-o Imani Christian with 11:32 in the third quarter.

On the following drive Central Valley had the ball in Imani Christian territory and was inside the 30 yard line. After that the drive stalled and they turned the ball over on downs.

Before the third quarter ended Imani Christian added another score when Gabe Jenkins found Dajuan Criaghead on a 43 yard touchdown pass which made it 48-0 Imani Christian with 2:24 in the third quarter.

Central Valley had 2 more chances to score in the fourth quarter but they just couldn’t find the end zone and the final was 48-o Imani Christian. With the win Imani Christian advances to the championship game at Acrisure Stadium. “I just feel, I’m incredibly proud, you know, when you’re a young coach, you know you’re younger and you know I was fortunate enough to get there when I was younger, but then to have to build back up to try to get there again, it’s like you can really appreciate the process so much more” said Coach Johnson.

Imani Christian will play Avonworth next week for the WPIAL 3A Championship at Acrisure Stadium next Saturday at 5pm. “Can’t wait” said Coach Johnson.
